Current Amount Of Final Fantasy XIV Players At Lowest Point Ever, Server Mergers Planned

 

Despite Square Enix’s best efforts to keep the troubled MMORPG alive and relevant player support for Final Fantasy XIV continues to dwindle. For the first time in over a year Square Enix has made it possible to view just how many players are online daily in Final Fantasy XIV.

The numbers aren’t very flattering.

According to the above chart passed along by Japanese websites the total amount of players in Final Fantasy XIV is at it’s lowest point since the game debuted last year.  Due to theses numbers FFXIV Producer/Director Naoki Yoshida has outlined plans to merge the game’s 18 servers.

“Actually the world merge is currently in plan. We will first analyze the number of players in the game after the billing service begins. Based on that analysis, we will be running a simulation where the maximum concurrent access during the peak hours will become somewhere around 1500 to 2000 per World. * The above number is provisional and not a finalized number.

And with the method on how the world merge will be done, it will not be done in a simple method where World A and World B will merge into a single new World. In order for EU players to gather on the same server in a certain mass, we are planning to go with the method where the players from a World with a less population can designate the World they wish to transfer to.”

More details regarding the server merge is expected to be shared as early as next month. With Square Enix preparing to reinstate the monthly subscription fee for the MMO next month it will be intriguing to see which direction these numbers will head in 2012.

Its been quit a while since Square Enix mentioned anything about the PS3 version.

2 months ago they said there will be a FF!4 2.0 in between October and December of 2012... which will also be the PS3 version... http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/teaser/

that late for PS3 version?  Man, SE really screwed the pooch with this one.  Terrible PC release and now hugely late PS3 release.  Will they even break even on this game?  Development couldn't have been cheap and it sounds like the almost had to re-write a lot of the damn thing while also supporinting players for free on their server infrastructure.  That late on PS3 I can't imagine it will do anything but fail to register, particularly looking at how quickly DC Online went FTP.

Nah he's just trolling the game. SE already confirmed the PS3 version will be coming between November and January of next year. (Nov 2012-Jan 2013)

They should just close down and redo the whole damn thing.

Man, and people still believe this game is going to make it to the end of 2012?

In SE's defense though people must be crazy to not want to play a horribly outdated bad game.
