once again we americans eats what only does alright in the rest of the world

This will be great! Plus it is not only about the game I think. Depending on how good this does is a mirror or could be a mirror of how good the Wii is the rest of the year in America and maybe even Europe. I do not know what else is on for Japan other than Maybe Mario Part 1000 and Dragon Quest, but in America I am pretty sure that we have nothing but shovelware and a few other small games to look forward to. if this does well nintendo could push out other imported games for us to feast on throughout the year up until Christmas time, or December 21st. ;)

Reggie did say that they would be supporting the Wii still. If there are really no games from Nintendo on the horizon for the Wii other than Mario Party, then they have to support it in some other way. Price is about as low as it can go I think for now. Maybe 79.99 next Christmas or something like that. Bundles can still be reduced as I think some are still 129.99-149.99.

What do you think about that?

I think i gave you the wrong idea with how I phrased my post

I'm very very VERY excited about xenoblade and hope it succeeds and allows a localization of last story

i was just looking at sales for xenoblade so far as well as skyward sword

I just managed to preorder my copy at an EBgames store in Canada. It was a bit of a pain in the ass getting to that point though. If you ask to preorder Xenoblade Chronicles you will get told that it isn't in their system. Thankfully I found the SKU so here it is for other Canadians wishing to order from a store. SKU 705128

Hope this helps. I was going to start a topic on this but I don't post enough so I couldn't. :(

@lewisgerm

Don't know if you'll read this or even care but, I don't get people like you. Most people get enough satisfaction from seeing their favourite games and consoles do well, but for a small portion of people that isn't enough. No, the competition needs to do bad otherwise it doesn't count. Other people may like the products that you hate on but you don't care, probably because you care about nothing but yourself.
You're exactly like all the haters that cried when the Wii did well and wanted everything Wii to just disappear, for the only reason that they didn't find any appeal in the Wii and it's library. If I don't like it it shouldn't exist, and everyone who thinks different can go to hell.

You even spend money to hurt the developers you hate, which is just mindblowing. Unless you're really rich, wouldn't it be better to spend that money on products that you like? If you take money that you could have bought Nintendo games for, and use that to hurt others, then you might as well give return your Nintendo club card, because you're not a Nintendo fan. You're just a non-Nintendo hater.

I don't know if this fits you or not, but there's one thing that really twists my brain in all sorts of unnatural ways. Some people seem to live in some sort of mythological world where, if you destroy a genre, a certain type of games or a company then all those resources will be put elsewhere. Kill of casual gaming and all those resources will be put into making hardcore games, right? Kill of online and all those resources will be out into single player games, right? Well, that's just bloody wrong. You can destroy Microsoft but that doesn't mean that more Nintendo-esque games will be made. FPS fans won't suddenly start buying JRPS in millions if developers stop making FPS's. Those that enjoyed what Microsoft offered won't just change their minds and start liking something else. Most will either look for an alternative that offers something similar, or just quit gaming because the industry no longer offers anything for them.
You won't get anything, but a whole lot of people will lose something. Is that what you want? Are you really that selfish?

To summarise: support the games you like and put your money there. If you want more Nintendo games then you buy more Nintendo games. Killing Sony or Microsoft won't give you more Nintendo games, it'll only hurt those that liked what those companies offered, and it'll decimate the industry as a whole. And that shouldn't be what you want, unless you're evil that is.

Excuse my rant...

there is no way i would change my mind about this. the wii is the best console and i want all the best games for it. i always buy my wii games new on purpose so i can give the money to the developer. in fact, when i used to work at gamestop i used to try to get the customers to buy all the wii games new and all the 360/ps3 games used. i was pretty good at it.

if they brought up a newly released used wii game i would just say, 'well for five dollars more you can get a new copy, want to just do that?' similarly if they brought up a new copy of a newly released 360/ps3 game, i would just tell them, 'well for five dollars less, you could just get a used copy and you even have a seven day warranty if you dont like it.'

it was awesome. so yes, you dont have to worry about me, my money is going to nintendo on this one.

well excuse me for trying to utilize the tiniest bit of influence i have over the industry.

look, torillian, your set of values is a little different than mine, but that doesn't mean yours is right. microsoft and sony are nothing but LEECHES on this industry. they in no way care about the consumer as evidenced by their support of things like online pass and now locking out single player content for people who buy the game used is an ALL TIME LOW.

so, yes, i am going to try to screw these developers out of every new sale that i can. its the right thing to do.

I like the irony here, the reason online passes have come into existence is because of used game sales, and here you are going out of your way to make the PS3/360 get more used sales....

ah, i see that you believe it is used game sales that have brought online pass into existence, but this isnt so. many developers think that used game sales are killing their sales, so they try to take some measure against that, this is true, but the real thing that has brought online pass into existence is the internet and our consoles being so closely tied to it. it is seen as a new avenue to screw us over, which is very sad. :(

the fact is that the used game market and the new game market have been rising side by side in a very cohesive way for the past 20 to 30 years. so the used market has never been killing the new. i dont see why it would all the sudden now. if anything the used market stimulates the new. think of how many people across the world who trade in their games to get a new one because they dont have enough money, or they want to save some money. used games stimulate new sales. used games have never been a detriment to any developer, and if they have you believing that the used market is some sort of threat, then they have you completely fooled.

The used market was never as damaging as it is now.  For one thing console games never used to have online parts so no online cost was involved for the dev after-sale.  For games with dedicated servers this is especially expensive when people start buying used.  Used games used to be a lot cheaper than new ones also and didn't take from new sales, selections of used games in stores was a lot smaller.  People buying used weren't paying near a new sale price and in most cases they would need buy new since not many used copies about.  Since Gamestop and similar have started doing used games though the price for used games has rocketed and is as good a price as a new copy almost, this steals from new sales being so close since if people will pay $55 they would pay $60 if the used one was not there, you can find used copies of pretty much every game nowdays too, even release week is flooded with them.

the used market is NOT damaging.

this is something i have mentioned before; the used market and the new market have been growing side by side for years. yes, used sales are higher than ever right now, but so are new sales.

dont let these developers make you think that the used market is killing the new. if you like supporting your favorite developer, then that is fine, i do the same thing. but once they start trying to strong arm you into buying it new and locking out content for people who buy used, then that is crossing a line, and none of us should be supporting that.

this discussion could go on forever, but the main point i am making is that the used market is not killing the new, in fact, it is the other way around.

yes, i love seeing nintendo do well, but i have to admit it really does warm my heart to see the ps360 (360 especially) do poorly. i just like seeing it. in fact, i would even go as far to say that i would love if microsoft just disappeared from the industry as they have not done a lot to make it a whole lot better. sure, people say that they pioneered online, which they did. theyre the first to realize its potential, but we see its ugly side effects in the form of online pass and (often times) useless dlc.

You're exactly like all the haters that cried when the Wii did well and wanted everything Wii to just disappear, for the only reason that they didn't find any appeal in the Wii and it's library. If I don't like it it shouldn't exist, and everyone who thinks different can go to hell.

yes, i am familiar with those wii haters, and i remembered how they wanted nothing more than the wii to just be gone. but to them i say that they dont even know how much the wii is helping them personally. at least one console manufacturer needs to be inclusive of a demographic outside the 17 to 30 year range or else gaming as we know it would soon die off. i have explained before that nintendo is doing whatever is in the best interest of the gaming industry as a whole because that is what is going to keep them alive. if after telling them this, they want to continue thinking that the wii is destroying the industry and they want it gone, that is fine with me. if they want to encourage used sales of wii games and new sales of ps360 games, then that is completely fine with me too. lol. they can do what they want.

You even spend money to hurt the developers you hate, which is just mindblowing. Unless you're really rich, wouldn't it be better to spend that money on products that you like? ok, i dont really understand where you are coming from here. i have been gaming all my life and i love nintendo as they have always given me quality games for as long as i can remember. in fact, in any top 50 games list of all times the top 20 are littered with nintendo games no matter which site makes it. its very telling. i still enjoy their games and i enjoy supporting them with my money. microsoft and sony, however.. i do enjoy a lot of the games on ps360, i just dont want to support them so i buy them used. so the money i spend is for my enjoyment, but i do spend a little extra to support a company i love.

I don't know if this fits you or not, but there's one thing that really twists my brain in all sorts of unnatural ways. You won't get anything, but a whole lot of people will lose something. Is that what you want? Are you really that selfish?

yeah i get what you are saying, but let me tackle this in two parts. the first is, i know no more nintendo-esque games will be made as a result of say, microsoft going under and deciding to leave the industry. i know this. but as i said before, it warms my heart to see them do badly because YES i do want them gone! lol. now the second part.. the conclusion you come to is 'only a whole lot of people will lose something, and you will gain nothing.' well, as you said before, if third parties cant make fps games on a microsoft console, they will just make it on another console, so those people are not really losing anything. the 360 is just a machine, the market will still exist for those games, and devs will make it for a sony or nintendo console, and the fans can play it on there. the only thing i really have to gain is the satisfaction of nintendo winning. this is their market.

To summarise: support the games you like and put your money there. If you want more Nintendo games then you buy more Nintendo games. Killing Sony or Microsoft won't give you more Nintendo games, it'll only hurt those that liked what those companies offered, and it'll decimate the industry as a whole. And that shouldn't be what you want, unless you're evil that is.

as i said before, the games on those systems would just be made on whatever other consoles are out there. i dont like sony or microsoft, so i use, again, the TINIEST bit of influence i have to get my will out there. also, when it comes down to it, its the customers choice to buy new or used. all i do is give them the option.

Excuse my rant...

dont worry about it, rants are ok (:

LOL this Lewisgerm guy is unreal. Online. MS was the only one to make an online that didnt suck. SOny JUST got it right a few years ago and Ninty STILL sucks at it. IMHO if it wasnt for MS showing how online could be done, Sony would not have tried nearly as hard and NINTy is not trying at all (in relation to the WIi). ANd that goes with FPSs, you say that FPSs would go to another console if MS went away, sure but it would not be nearly as popular. because....online. that makes FPSs popular, Ninty consoles suck for online therefore the games would not be nearly as good. Not sure about PS3. and fyi i hate that MS charges you to play online, but alot of people will pay it. WHo the hell are you to tell them THEY are doing it wrong??

You say Wii is good because it targets a demograph outside the 17-30 male range? You're right, its good they do that, but in the same breath you say PS360 needs to go away?? so screw the 17-30 males?? And no those games would not have just gone to WIi, not with those old ass specs.

Lets go and do it! What is that petition website? Solatoroba DS game was released surprisingly so why not? Nintendo is going to need some games this year. A petition is a good way to get it noticed! Sooner rather than later. I will do it.

wow where to start

ok, so you say that fps is popular because of online, yet one of the first games on a console that got people into fps games is golden eye for 64. online doesnt make or break an fps. bioshock and metroid are considered the best of their kinds and they have no online. so i dont really see the connection here with that. people can pay microsoft just to play online, thats fine. the market is what determines the prices, as i have said a couple comments ago.

yes, we agree that it is good that the wii is inclusive of gamers outside of a 17-30 range, but if microsoft would just.. go away, its not like these gamers would have nowhere to go. the wii is very inclusive of that demographic. not to mention there still is a ps3, i dont see whats so horrible about that.

all im saying is that one of them needs to go. whether its the ps3 or 360 i really dont care, i just want one of them out. theyre so damn near identical that its sad. ive never seen two consoles that are so similar. whats the point?

That last sentence by Lewis is true! Other than a game here and there they are usually identical. I guess there is a market for them, so more power to them.
