Forums - Gaming Discussion - RUMOUR: Final Fantasy XV to be announced at E3 2012 as part of FF 25th Anniversary celebration.

FFvsXIII...the ultimate vaporware! Watch it suck when it releases (if that ever happens...)

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

The latest issue of GamesMaster UK is out and claims a rumour that FFXV will be announced for (Wii U/PS3/360/PC) at a special Square Enix E3 2012 press conference that's celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Final Fantasy.

Square seems to struggle with 2 Consoles...now they wanna do 4? ....Fuck I hope the premise is around Ninjas at least or something orginal.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

If this turns out true which i hope it does, then i think i'll be getting the game for the Wii U. I think a touch based interface for combat would be great, of course it depends on what the battlesystems like.

Aslo people should remember that different teams work on different titles. The team Behind XIII-2 will be finished in the next month and they will probably join the Versus XIII team to get that finished byyears end. I think XVwill be made by the FF XIV/XII team

Given that the combat options in an jRPGs always fit easily on the same screen, how could switching from one screen to another be great? I understand that having you inventory or a bigger interactive map on a second screen could be fun, but I dont see the use for combat.

when dealing with menu based interface, touch controls are alot quicker and alot more intuitive. I haven't used any control like the Wii U before, i dont know how having to look at 2 screens will effect the experience. Either way the anologe stick will always be there, so the Wii U version will be the definitive version, especially if they bother to take advantage of the additional power

yaaay for Final Fantasy XVersus!

pwin´ every other villain since 1994

The FFXII team and FFXIV team are not the same. The FFXIV team is the same as the FFXI team. The FFXII team are probably the ones making FFXV.

Table that explains the different main series FF teams:

Im glad its the FFXII team, i think that game was the most foward thinking. It corrected alot of problems the franchise but unfortunately ran into some new ones. But the team deserves credit because there wasn't a moment in XII where i cringed. Thats more then i can say for X and XIII,and i loved FFX!

Oh no not the FFXII team...

It's likely Ito is Directing it.

Ito Directed Final Fantasy IX and Co-Directed Final Fantasy VI. He was the battle designer on IV, V, VI, VIII and IX.

Ito is amazing.

I look forward to playing this game in hell, as the planet will be destroyed in 2012.

I wonder if the PS3/360 will hold this game back.

It is inevitable. Just hope they make a game you like this time.

I liked FFXII but I don't think the franchise needs a FFXII-like game right now. In my opinion it needs to go back to its roots and have turn-based gameplay.

That won't happen because turn based just isn't as mainstream anymore. They already hinted at FF XV being an action RPG, but if isn't one, it'll be close. I don't think they'll go back to turn based again for main FFs...

I agree FF12 and FF13 had their problems. but the direction of FF12 was a lot more progressive than FF13, which i think when FF13-2 comes out here in the west we will see that there has been considerable damage done to the series. as  we've seen with the Japanese numbers for FF13-2.

FF12 team will have to make the game a lot more accessible this time, exploration for 2-3 hours with little character development is not what the series needs right now. fans love FF for the characters and the RPG elements. all things in moderation this time and i believe they will have a masterpeice on their hands!!

I hope they don't announce it!
But if they do announce it, please for the love of GOD, DO NOT ANNOUNCE IT IN MICROSOFTS CONFERENCE.
