Forums - Sony Discussion - Skyrim killed my ps3!

I got the YLOD and managed to fix my PS3 using these videos

I made a thread about it here (A lot of the images are missing and I'm not sure why)

Anyway its not really a permanant fix, but it did turn my PS3 on and I got my disc out and did a full HDD reformat.  You'll need a heat gun and thermal paste.

EDIT: Mine was a launch 60 gig fatty, not sure if the videos apply to the slims

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

You do understand that their are issues (Not YLOD yet, but others) with the Skyrim on PS3 right?

I know about the lag and the freezing, but I don't care, I just want to play Skyrim!!!  I guess I'll just have to hope that my PS3 fixes itself, or stays on long enough for me to retrive the game out of it.  I really don't want to smash my ps3, to get the game out

Fact: Earthbound is the greatest game ever made

That definitely sucks, but I don't think it was Skyrim's fault lol. Your ps3 simply just died.

that is YLOD , not skyrim.

BUT in bathesda forums lots of people said the multiple crash´s and freezes kill the ps3 ( yes the slim model)

Im planning to get a new PS3 + Skyrim this week, and this is rather..disturbing.

The real question should be why did you buy a Bethesda game on PS3? Anyway sorry but your better off buying a new PS3 than sending it to Sony.

Do not believe this guys exxagerations, he comes in every thread to bad mouth bethesda and the PS3. basically, taking them all off topic. The crashes have not happened to me, but the freezes become more frequent after about 80 hours of play time, which to most people is a lot of play time. The way to fix it partly is to turn off auto saving and save often with only one file. It really is still not that bad.

Well it most certainly wasn't Skyrim's fault that the console broke, probably would have happened no matter what the game.

But it does suck that you have a bricked PS3. Look for a good Christmas bundle to get a new one for cheap.

sorry for your loss... I thought I lost mine several times because it freezes whenever and wait.

What happened to you is my worst nightmare.
Hang on in there!

Sorry for your loss.
What is disturbing is that when a system die, and there's no warrant, the consumer buy another one, with this, only the company gain. I already listen the argument that the user base of the PS3 is bigger than the Xbox 360 because of the early problems (RROD) with the old consoles.
Is incredible how the video game system nowadays isn't reliable.
