Forums - Gaming Discussion - Demon's Souls Gets (A Little) Easier This Holiday

Tagged games:

well this is my last thread for the weekend.

As Atlus continues to support Demon's Souls' online play by keeping the servers alive, the publisher announced a Pure White World Tendency event starting today.

Players who log online in North America will face enemies that are easier to kill in addition to areas previously inaccessible. The event runs through January 2, 2012.

Atlus announced in September it will keep the servers online into 2012, though it hasn't provided an updated timetable.

Wait, I'm confused. So, I can access all areas despite World tendencies?

That is fantastic! Next time I get a chance I'll see if I can actually play and beat the game.

From what I hear it is a very hard game, they may be trying to get a bigger audience by making it easier. I am sure it is still as hard as hell though!

This is just a treat to the fans, to people who have had the game for some time but have a hard time getting the Platinum (people like me). Which is really nice. They stopped shipping Demon's Souls ages ago.

Do you have a PS3 or X360? Did you contemplate buying Dark Souls?

I have a 360. If it was cheap enough I would try it out. 200 hours of gameplay is a little much for me, I have barely played Skyward Sword!

Yeah, it's pretty much full price still. You can beat it in 80 hours, but that's still a lot of hours needed elsewhere I guess.

I have many unfinished games myself but all my gaming hours go to a very few games that I can't stop playing.

Is Dark Souls really that long of a game? Do they make you run through each section 10 times or something 0_o

Last time I comtempleted a game, I ended up buying skyrim...what a waste.

OT: I guess that's cool although, I hope it doesn't make it too easy in the sense that it makes it less rewarding. I rented it and clocked in 20 hours and I didn't mind being stuck on the rooftop gargoyles for like 3 or 4 hours. I plan to buy it next year and spend more time on it. I really enjoyed the gritty atmosphere and that feeling of "Oh my fucking god, my wall cannot handle another controller to the face."...Still rewarding however.

Yes it's long. An effective gamer would play it in 50-60 hours though. Depends a little if you played Demon's Souls or not or if you "cheat" by reading guides on the internet. For me it took 100 hours to play it through and beat it once (I spent a lot of time farming metals ), but I'm the slow type in all games.

It has some but very few repeating sections yes, and it doesn't bother you one bit. It all makes sense.

Yeah i'm basically a noob at Dark Souls and don't have a clue on what's going on not to mention i'm the slow moving type of gamer. Funnily enough i've only died twice to enemies (due to going the way you shouldn't)....the rest of my 6 deaths have been because my guy will either lunge 10 feet at an enemy and fall off the side of a walkway or I accidently press B whilst in the menus which results with me jumping backwards off a cliff. I hate the games Playstation like controls and menus  If you go the right way the game is quite easy actually (so far at least)

What do you mean by "farming metals"?

Metals you need to upgrade weapons and armor. Titanite shards, Green titanite, Blue titanite and so on. The common metals you can find in shops and drop often from lower mobs but to get enough of some rare metals (like Twinkling titanite) you need to slay a certain type of enemy dozens of times for one metal shard to drop.
