Whats the appeal to these Mario Kart games seriously?

The gap between the Modern Warfare 3 sales is tiny.

Wow @ Uncharted 3

Maybe because its fun???

I personally dont see the appeal to these Uncharted games, just generic 3rd person shooters theyre all the same. Mario Karts unique.

Say what? Uncharted is far from being generic, there arnt even that many third person shooters around anymore.

Thats because FPS games are better shooters than Third Person thats why, but Uncharted is definitley generic, not that its a bad game what it does it does well, but all it basically is, is a copy of Gears of Wars shooting mechanics and the climbing of Assassins Creed wrapped up in pretty graphics and with likable characters.

But as its own thing, its nothing new at all, it just did what it did well. Still i dont see the appeal to it at all, from what ive seen its just a very straight forward game where you run and shoot, climb, cutscene.

"Oh look we have to go through that door, but of course you can never simply go through a door in any of these games so go climb around the long way to lower a rope for us to get through". Is all that these games are.

"From what I've seen"

In other words, you've never even played it. Don't get too attached to that new account you have there.

I played the demo, ive seen the reviews. If i said something wrong then feel free to correct me on it.

Okay. From the start.

"Thats because FPS games are better shooters than Third Person thats why"  That's not even close to an argrument.

"copy of Gears of Wars shooting mechanics"  Had this discussion enough when the first Uncharted was released, we established Gears didn't invent the cover system and just because a game uses a cover system doesn't make it exactly like Gears.

"and the climbing of Assassins Creed" That is a new one. I will give you credit for creativity. Too bad they released at the same time, one could argue Assassins Creed was a ripoff of Uncharted. But they shouldn't. Because it's stupid.

"from what ive seen"  You admit to having never played past a demo of any game in the series

"its just a very straight forward game where you run and shoot, climb, cutscene."  Yeap, Mario kart you drive in a circle, shoot some shells, repeat. COD you run, shoot, die, respawn. NBA 2k12 you run, shoot, score, defend. You can oversimplify any game in any genre with that type of language.

""Oh look we have to go through that door, but of course you can never simply go through a door in any of these games so go climb around the long way to lower a rope for us to get through". Is all that these games are."  - Another big oversimplification from someone who has never played the games.

You don't have to like the Uncharted games. It's okay to not find them fun. Just lay off some of this ridiculous reasoning.

It may be fun but not fun enough for it to sell that many copies. The games dont differ much from each game, the Wii version is better than the 3DS one, and its not that unique, theres been Crash Bandicoot games similar to it, there was even a Sega game last year that was just like it, infact better even.

Last i checked Crash Team Racing and Sega Racing were a RIPOFF of Mario Kart which was unique. Uncharted is a ripoff of Tomb Raider/Indiana Jones/Gears of War. Like i said it does what it does well but all Uncharted is is a combination of popular aspects combined into one pretty package.

But now that theres those other games aswell, that no longer makes in unique. The fact this new Mario Kart is no different at all from the one on DS also shows its not unique. Uncharted didnt ripoff anything, its a homage to adventure films. Tomb Raider itself was a blatant ripoff of Indiana Jones.

Theres other games like Mario Kart, theres nothing out there like Uncharted. Gears of War is nothing in the slightest like Uncharted.

So your saying someone can come out wih a unique game then someone can rip it off then it suddenly no longer becomes unique? Mario Kart is plenty different from the DS game, new characters, tracks, gliding, undersea races, customizable karts etc. Its a racing game not Grand Theft Auto theres not a ton they can add, your still gonna be racing in a Kart around a track.

I didnt say Gears of War was like Uncharted i said it ripped off its shooting mechanics which it did.

Yes because once theres a second one like it then its no longer unique. Wii's motion controls were unique, now with the Kinect and the Move it it not.

Just because Uncharted has similar shooting to Gears of War is no reason to fault it, Gears of Wars shooting mechanics were similar to Resident Evil 4's, everything borrows something from something else, they just try to improve it. Uncharted is alot more than just some shooter.

There are no FPS games on PS3 that are better than the Uncharted series. It having similar shooting mechanics to Gears of War does not make it a ripoff, Uncharted game out before Assassins Creed so it most certainly didnt rip that off either.

Most shooting games are simply just shooting and crap cutscenes. Uncharted has shooting, good cutscenes, climbing aswell as likable characters and a decent story something very few FPS games have.

The Call of Duty Modern Warfare trilogy is miles better than the Uncharted trilogy for one.

Yeah tell that to metacritic and Call of Dutys pitiful user score.

The user score doesnt mean squat.

COD4 - 94 Uncharted - 88

MW2 - 94 Uncharted 2 - 96

MW3 - 88 Uncharted 3 - 92

COD average - 92

Uncharted average - 92

So yeah going by metacritic Call of Duty is just as good as Uncharted, though at least Call of Duty is its own thing.

Even if Uncharted didnt ripoff Assassins Creed it certainly ripped off Tomb Raider with, its treasure hunting, shooting, platforming gameplay.

I just said i did play the demo....

Mario Karts a driving game, all you can do is drive but at least it was original. Uncharted is just a modern day Tomb Raider. Ive seen people play Uncharted plenty times, its always the same, for example in Uncharted 3 what i saw someone play the other day, you enter a room theres a door but of course theres a conviently placed wooden beam infront of it, so of course now you have to climb up around, lower chandliers, push the beam to get through the door.

You get to the ghost town in the desert, theres a big door in front of you but noooo you have to go around the side, climb up, go down the well, go through the cave, climb back up all to get inside. Thats how it always is.

Mario Kart sells because it's Mario. Try to sell EXACTLY the same game without calling it Mario and it would sell like Modnation Racers.

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

And that face palmy worthy why? the critics dont seem to agree seeing as they equal around the same score. COD4 got much better reviews than the original, MW2s reviews were on the same level as Uncharted 2 and MW3 scored slightly lower than Uncharted 3.

On IGN Uncharted 1,2 and 3 score a 8.4, 9.0 and 10.0

Modern Warfare 1,2 and 3 score a 9.4, 9.4 and 9.0.

Winner Call of Duty.

Okay... so because there are a lot of high profile FPS games, it means any TPS game is automatically inferior? Ridiculous. Anyway, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, Splinter Cell, Tom Clancy games, SOCOM, Dead Space - the point is moot regardless.

Mario Kart wasn't the first racing game made. Many were made before it. Calling Uncharted a Tomb Raider copy would be the same as calling Mario Kart a rip off of all those previous racing games. They may be similar, but they do more than enough to create their own identidy.

Your other problems with the game, I think shouldn't even be addressed until you actually play the game.
