The release early in the year curse, people have short attention spans

Dont sweat over it dude, Skyrim got GoTY and its a game plagued by bugs, these awards are popularity based more tham anything.

I've never played LBP2, but the only reason I can think of, is it wasn't good enough. There were just better games released this year.

If it was based on popularlity than CoD would have won. Skyrim was just hands down the best game of the year.

CoD did win best FPS of the year and we all know its not the best FPS this year, not by a long shot... Im not saying Skyrim isnt a good game, but Im dam sure itd not have won if it wasnt beeing hypped like it was, the game has more tham a handfull of problems.

Since nobody is actually answering this question I will. This year was huge in games.

Portal 2
Skyrim
Batman ArkhamCity
Battlefield 3
Modern Warfare 3
Uncharted 3
Mortal Kombat
Rage
Dead Island
Killzone 3
Resistance 3
Forza 4

And the list goes on and on. I love LBP but it does not deserve game of the year. Let's see, its a sequel so it lost it's originality and more of the same. Storyline, barely.

All the Games that got nominated were very well deserved. Gears 3 is the only one that people were baffled about. On Machinima Gears 3 won 3 awards and 1 being GoTY.

Sorry to break all the Skyrim bubbles but Dark Souls is a better game in EVERY regard except story, which it doesn't even try to have.

dont want to start any fanboy war or list wars... but Machinima are hardly objective non biased company. they are hige xbox fanboys.

most of them hardly even know what a playstation is. heck when the last time you saw them do videos of a ps3 game? heck, just watch the video they did of the Uncharted 3 summer beta. none of them knew how to play, new the buttons or anything. in one scene the guy tries to use a zipline, and the on screen prompt says to press "X" and all you see is Nathan drake meleeing over and over again. and the guy gives up trying to use the zipline. it because the guy was pressing the mellee button which is Square, which is the same location as "X" on xbox. also none of the guys knew how to reload, they kept pressing mellee, and not once figured it out.

none of them use a ps3, or at the very least use it with any frequency.

I'm surprised as well. If I decided the GOTY awards, they would mostly be shared between LBP2, Xenoblade Chronicles, Zelda, Pokemon Black/White and Dark Souls.
