Forums - General Discussion - Ever been the victim of a crime?

Yep, I was playing hide n' seek with some neighborhood kids when a new kid I hadn't met before wanted to play. While we were playing, he stole my rarest Yugioh cards, but I am grateful because it made me stop wasting time and money on them. I must have been 11 or 12 at the time.

ive lost over $2000 in online fraud buying phones that never arrived.

When I was 6, some kids stole my brother's key and broke into our apartment and stole all of our NES games. We ended up rebuilding our collection but I still wonder who the little shits were that stole those games. After that, I had frequent dreams about being in that apartment alone while dangerous people/monsters/whatever would break in.

A couple of years ago we were in a hit and run at a red light. There's a really tight turn and an oncoming truck bounced off of the curb and hit us head on, then ran. I was alright but my mom suffered a slipped disk. The lady in the car behind us saw the whole thing and got the license plate, the cops caught the guy parked in his driveway 2 hours later.

Another accident that happened to us when I was in 5th grade. My mom just picked me up after school and we stopped at a stop sign at the end of the street when a woman ran into us from behind. She did a lot of crying and said she wasn't paying attention. We ended up going to court, but my mom didn't want me to go because she said I was too young. She told me that the lady almost got away with it (which is a crime in and of itself) because her smarmy lawyer made my mom out to be bad guy even though we got rammed at a stop sign on the same street as the school...

We have a shed in our backyard but we don't keep anything valuable in there, just a bunch of junk. A beat up mattress, old toys no one's played with in years, a tape recorder with broken buttons and an old microwave that smells like it's going to explode when you turn it on, among other things. In 10th grade, I came home from school to find the shed door ripped wide open and a trail of junk in the grass leading towards the street. Guess the joke was on them!

My Girlfriend The woman who I stalk and I were driving in seperate cars the other night to her Mother's Birthday party. The traffic was horrendous! I got the idea to get out of my car while it was parked at a traffic jam and say something to her. When I came up on the car I noticed her window was down. So I reached in and tapped her on the shoulder. She instantly flinched, and pulled away, gave a bloodcurtling SCREAM, and proceeded to get very angry. You see, she thought knows I am a stalker was a bum or a robber  coming for her. She did not realize I was parked behind her, or that I had walked up to her window.  It was really pretty funny to be honest!

Funny'ou should mention Yugioh cards because I have a giant box of close to 6 thousand cards under my bed right now! Dont worry I was not the kid.

Most people seem to have some story (usually petty crime, save for a few) and then I see Dr Grass's post ... I live in South Africa too and it really is scary how prevalent crime is. My list is too long to recall in full but the highlights are:

1. 2x smash and grabs
2. 3x home invasions (my mother's home, my paternal uncle's home and my maternal uncle's home; fortunately I was not there for any of these)
3. several stolen cars and/or car break-ins.

To be fair most of the above were a few years ago. The most recent incident was they broke into my car and stole my gps; got the car back from the panel-beaters today actually.

... And I live in one of the better parts of Johannesburg.

Good times.

I had a wheel stolen off a Bike that I used to own.

I also had my clothes stolen at my apartment laundromat. I don't know many who steal clothes, but that really pissed me off.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Dr. Grass...it is not a crime to live in South Africa. Don't let anyone ever tell you that.

Bikes always seem to be a big item to steal. Not very expensive though.

Huh!? Are you serious with that first comment? I was implying that crime is a problem here... I love my country.

Mountain bikes can be more expensive than motorcars.
