This thread is in memoriam of Chocoloco!

While scanning through the site looking at members I came accross a profile that shocked the hell out of me! The members name was Chocoloco, "he seems to like sports," I said to myself. So I checked out what kind of threads this member had made in the past. What I found would disturb any other grown man, but for me it gave me much determination and strength of spirit! I vowed right then and there that I would honor this lost members legacy and make the best dammned greatest ever thread that this site has seen in the last two or three hours. So without further adieu, I bring you my coup d'état, my White Rabbit of the Sports thread world. I bring you "THE GREATEST HOCKEY PLAYER LIKE EVER THREAD"!

Chris Chelios
Wayne Gretzky
Bobby Orr
Gordie Howe
Mario Lemieux
Maurice "Rocket" Richard

Ray Bourque

Here are some more you may like:

Guy Lafleur - For six years in the 1970s Guy Lafleur redefined the words amazing and fantastique when used to describe a hockey player. Every goal was an event to witness.

Viacheslav Fetisov - Viacheslav Fetisov will always be remembered as a warrior - on the ice and off of it. His on ice performance on the international scene alone gets him on this list.

Eddie Shore - Despite finishing his NHL career back in the 1930s, he's the one old-timer who consistently ranks in all of top 10 greatest players lists.

Steve Yzerman - What more can be said about Stevie Wonder? He was one of hockey's greatest players and classiest people.

Bryan Trottier - The best two way player of his generation, Hall of Famer Trottier was slightly overshadowed by flashier teammates Bossy and Potvin, but will forever appreciated.

Mike Bossy - Arguably the greatest pure sniper of all time, this goal scoring machine helped the New York Islanders capture four consecutive Stanley Cup Championships.

Phil Esposito - One of hockey's greatest scorers led the Boston Bruins to two Stanley Cups and led Team Canada to their greatest victory.

Valeri Kharlamov - Though he never played in the NHL, the Soviet half-Spaniard easily ranks as one of the greatest LWs of all time.

Ted Lindsay - His legacy may forever spearheading the Player's Association movement, but "Terrible Ted" Lindsay was one mean and talented hockey player.

Denis Potvin - Perhaps one of the top 5 defensemen in the history of the game, Denis Potvin captained the New York Islanders dynasty while rewriting Bobby Orr's records.

Larry Robinson - "Big Bird" had the all the assets to be the ultimate prototypical NHL defenseman of any era.

"Mr Goalie" Glenn Hall - The grandfather of butterfly goaltending played a record 502 consecutive games without a mask.

Jari Kurri - "Gretzky to Kurri....scores!" was a call heard 429 times in Edmonton. The game hasn't seen quite as dynamic of a duo since.

Dit Clapper - Dit Clapper is the only player in NHL history to be named a All Star at both forward and defense.

Bobby Clarke - Depending on who you ask, Bobby Clarke is one of hockey's greatest players or one of hockey's greatest villains. The truth is he was both.

Vladislav Tretiak - Vladislav Tretiak is one of the greatest hockey heroes, not just in Russia but also in Canada and all around the world.

Dominik Hasek - As unorthodox as he is, his peak performance with Buffalo and the Czech national team from 1993 through 1992 is hard to match.

Jaromir Jagr - Someone will point to his reputation for being lazy defensively, but his resume is as impressive as anyone. Based on talent alone, he's a top 10, maybe top 5 player of all time.

Please feel free to vote on your own favorite player if he/she is not on this list.

Votes will be tabulated Sunday night for the winner.

If no one votes, then it will be tabulated tomorrow. ;)

It's Wayne Gretzky. No question. He is the greatest hockey player of all time.

Being that I am a Blackhawks fan I always loved guys like Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, and Denis Savard but Wayne was the best. Honorable mention goes to Mario Lemieux.

I'm gonna have to go with Gretzky. Hard to argue with most points all time, most points/goals/assists in a season, and 4 cup wins. Plus he's from Brantford, same city as me! I went to the same high school he did, and my dad actually went to school with him.

Runners up would have to be Lemieux, Orr, Bossy, Richard and Howe.

If Bossy hadn't had his career cut short due to injury he would easily be top 5 all time. He started his career with 9 straight 50 goal seasons and has the highest regular season goals per game in NHL history.

Best goalie is probably Roy, although I don't like him at all.

My favourite players all time are Keith Tkachuk and Ryan Smyth, but neither of them are even close to best all time. Tkachuk will hopefully make the hall of fame though. Never won a cup, but he did lead the league in scoring twice and has over 500 career goals. Was just put in the US Hockey Hall of Fame.

Should Emilio Estevez be an option? Or should I saw Emilio Sheen?

I'm from montreal, so maybe im a little biased, but I have to go with Maurice Richard, first player to reach 50goals in 50games in a time where it was extremely hard to be a french canadian in a league 100% controlled by english speakers. (at the time, racism was an extremely common thing)

They are alot of great ones in hockey, but in my mind, the "Rocket" will forever be the very first great one to ever play that sport.

Btw, you have a great list.

It's obvious who my favorite player is but the best player of all time would have to be Gretzky. Gordie Howe is 2nd though.

Since his records destroy all Gretzky is the best forward, no one else will ever have the league retire their number. Maybe in 2,000 years.

For Goalie, Patrick Roy, he was the ultimate clutch goalie and he left the game early when he was still at the top of his game.

The best defensemen is Ray Bourque who had the ultimate combination of brutal defense and one of the most famous and powerful slap shots in history.

@ Marks You are off my friends list buddy for slandering Roy.

Hey Ryan you like my first thread, "When did you give up on Nintendo"? I was a prick back than especially since I later bought a wii.

For goalies, id have to go with either George Vézina (the trophy for best goalie of the year is named after him... thats somthing) Jacques Plante (the legendary hockey mask anyone? and 6stanley cups) or Patrick Roy. And the fact that all of these guys played for the Habs is purely conincidental :P

For defense I think I have to go with Bobby Orr.

And chocoloco, for Marks defense... you have to admit that Roy was kind of a douche... (but I still love him :P)

I was not that bored. Actually I was going to ask if you wanted to be a prize for my http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=137779&page=2 thread. But I did this instead.
