A Truce when Bluray controls 70% of the market? Not happening.

A truce simply means a cease fire. If they can get Universal and Paramount on board, and Toshiba to stop manufacturing players, then the fight will be over.


QFT. I think in this case, the truce will be Toshiba manufacturing BD players.


Nah, they'll probably produce dual format players for a while.


This is why Toshiba's postponed conference is so important. What are they going to do, if anything?


I think they're waiting to see what Universal and Paramount do. If they stay HD exclusive for the time being, Toshiba will kepp selling HD DVD palyer, but if they both go Blu (neutral or exclusive), then Toshiba will go dual format.


Come on. Just two options? Use your imagionation.

What if they do something else in the hopes of wooing studios, instead of merely being reacitve?

Its not a question of IF Blu Ray will win the "format war", its a question of WHEN. According to this Paramount is thinking of jumping to the winning team. Before Warner made the jump I might not have believed this story about Paramount, but it makes sense now.

Next on the list after Paramount is Universal.

So at last Sony gets an accepted format, about time imo. They've lost dominance in the console department, but seem to be growing and gaining in others. Good for them!

At last? Sony and Philips were the two main companies behind the CD, much like Sony and Panasonic are the big guys behind Blu-Ray. There are other accepted formats that Sony has had a major hand in as well, such as the 3.5 in. floppy disc.

The whole "Sony formats = Beta" stereotype is really a bunch of BS.

 Thanks for reminding me, I forget sometimes! But I think it's great that some things are going their way at least, they've had a few downers the last 2-3 years.
