Actually if you take away liberal Quebec, Conservatives control 70% of seats in English Canada and around 45-50% of the vote.

They are quite dominate apart from Quebec and Newfoundland and PEI.

How do Canadian conservatives differ from American ones?  Do the conservatives in Canada want to eliminate national health care, privatize their equivalent to Social Security, or shrink the national government to the size of a bathtub so they can drown it?

Canadian conservatives are far less religiously motivated, want sensible laws that are fairly enforced with reasonable punishments, are ideologically dramatically more fiscally conservative but fairly moderate in practice, and want to reform our broken healthcare system to include the private sector to be more in line with the less expensive and better quality care of many countries in Europe.

In terms of size of government, they would (mostly) want to decentralize the government and get the federal government out of issues that are clearly within provincial jurisdiction.

Seems more pragmatic then.  It seems the wings in America are far more interested in burning things down and blaming the opposition than elsewhere.

OP: So you basically want a warmongering president who destroys relations and spends all the money on the military? You want Bush back, that makes me kinda sad to be honest.

Bush left?

That's the main problem with Obama, it's essentially Bush for a third term.  Pretty much everything Bush did, some things good, some bad, Obama kept. He continued down the same paths.

The real problem, though, is that all of Washington now just ignores the constitution. Something about that needs to be done.

The democrats themselves are not united either. In the past democrats did not use to agree as it use to be Southern socially religious democrats vs all other democrats.

However, currently there is a big split between the more rural democrats and the big city very liberal democrats. We saw this in the first 2 years of Obama term, where Obama tried to pass more liberal ideas that many of this board would like to see but could not even get his party to support him fully.

Such things make us confused in Canada, because the idea of a representative of the same party as the leader openly voting against the leader would likely cause the Rep to get kicked out of his party.

10. makes up for 1 - 9 yay for not forcing religion on people!!

Next step is getting rid of it in schools.

Tomorrow is the carol service for my school and we have to go to church, sing hymns, and listen to at least an hour of what I can only describe as "preaching". Prayers at the end of each and every assembly are bad enough.

I have no clue about politics, especially in the USA, but I really like Obama. He's down to Earth and honest, and all of his major decisions that have made the news (killing Bin Laden for example) have been good ones.

i dont get it, what about saying "God bless America" forces religion on people

because i dont want to hear about your god blessing anything

Imo if Obama wanted to lock up the next election, he should put Hilary as her VP. Joe Biden is useless...

Plus Hilary is far more more liked then Obama.

Don't know if you guys have seen this yet. Pretty awesome if you ask me.

Yeah I do not understand the Democrats and Republicans.

They do not really stand for fiscal conservatism.

Imo spending within your means is not simply fiscal conservatism...

But is FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY!

Its like democrats say tax the rich and keep spending like crazy, Republicans so no tax increases but tax decrereases and we cut spending where it really hurts.

Haha, yup, was just talking about that to someone earlier. It's definitely forced on children in that respect. Disgusting really ...
