Forums - Music Discussion - Album sales predictions for 2011-2012

With Christmas coming we all know that even though CD sales are on a downward spiral, they still become very strong at this time of year. So will any albums coming out in the next few weeks or this past year be able to overtake Adele by January 1st, 2012?

With Album sales so low right now, will she overtake next year as well? Adele did have her album titled "19" in the top ten for a while this year, and since she has had surgery she says that she may not have another album for years.

    Snoop Dogg And Wiz Khalifa,

    50 Cent

    Goldfrapp

    Young Jeezy

    Nicki Minaj

Aerosmith,  Justin Bieber, Dr. Dre, and whoever else you think may come out with something next year.

Lastly, here is a tribute to Amy Winehouse. I did not care for her music, but thought it should be added.

sorry? is this about vinyl sales or album sales in general?

Oh and before anyone (if anyone) starts, what the hell is this? Will we have to be subjugated to endless Gaga music for the rest of our life just because her videos are wierd? Her latest songs are horrible, but I think she still is a top seller because of the strange videos.

Don't judge me! I saw it while embedding the Winehouse ladies song.

This is about whatever you want to put into it. If you want to predict the top selling cassette tape this year (they are still out there!) you can. Then if someone wants to say that you are totally wrong, then they may do that as well.

But lets use the term "album" as the all around term for everything. Cassettes, CD, Vinyl, etc.

    Nice list.

Any predictions or did you just copy and paste from my top cheats thread? :P

Well, I think that Adele will continue "slaying" album sales.
On the singles front, I think that Rihanna will be the winner since some songs of her last album have big potential to sell well, yet, her album won't.

This recent album of hers was not very good I did not think, but the one with the controversial music video was pretty "POP".

I also think the same. For me, Rated R is her best album, where the songs actually mean something rather than sex and more sex. I don't know, but as a fan of her, I wish she would take a break, just as she did before Rated R was released.

2011 will show an increase in overall sales, first time since 2004. In September total sales were up 7,2%.
I remember reading in Billboard a couple a weeks ago some decrease, but still up, 4% ??

Vynil continues to grow up, but still less than 1% market share.
