Machina's old thread inspired me to remake this thread, seen as it looks like nearly ever single person in that thread failed/will fail.

So, simple question. When will the PS3 (if ever) overtake the X360 Worldwide?

Never, as long as they come out with the next generation at the same time. If Microsoft comes out first, then I would expect the PS3 to overtake 360 sales that slow considerably after the new system arrives.

Itll do it when the next xbox is released, causing less desire for the 360.

How does Sony not deserve it? They obviously put the effort into having as many exclusive games for thier system.

Two options. The 360 stays relatively popular in the United States/England even after the nextbox comes out and the ps3 never passes it.

or 360 sales slow down rapidly and ps3 passes it two years after next gen starts thanks to strong sales in developing countries despite the ps4 being released.

I think all the next gen consoles are going to initially be $350+, so there will still be a big market for sub $200 consoles in the United States and Europe. So the 360 should be able to keep up relatively well with the PS3 for at least a few years after next gen begins.

Never. The gap will always find its way back to 3 million in the 360's favor.

Never, PS3 chips away at from January to October, then Xbox undoes all its hard work in just 2 months.

With Xbox now dominating in US and UK, PS3 losing pretty much all the big name exlusives and Japanese gaming dying off in the west. Next gen PS4 will lose out badly, itll end up pulling a Sega.
