Gary Johnson. Additionally, he is contemplating a 3rd party run, seeking the Libertarian Party's nomination. He has also said that if nominated, he would have Ron Paul as his running mate.

That would be my dream ticket. I would vote for them and do whatever I could with donations.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Barack Obama, will never vote republican. Nothing more to say.

The primaries are about to begin.

The next US president will have a very vital role to play in the world which is going through financial turmoil and other problems which are getting terrible day by day.

Here are the front runners from both the parties:

Newt Gingrich

Ron Paul

Mitt Romney

Barack Obama

The world is facing alot of problems which are getting even more terrible, here the main ones:

US debt problems

Europe debt problems

Iran nuclear program

Arab spring

Occupy World Movements

Here is what i think:

Euro will collapse in mid-2012

US dollar will soon follow the euro but the time is uncertain.

Now if Occupy movements in Europe and USA are successful then we are we are saved.

If not then,Sanctions and other intimidation from the west on iran will force iran to take some action which will cause WW3.

Russia,China,pakistan,Iran,etc vs US,Israel,UK,Germany,France,etc

Now I support RON PAUL.

if he wins,we are absolutely saved from the war as USA is key to a war in Iran and if he wins,he won't let USA enter a war atleast for any other country but for the defense of USA at its borders

Even if he doesn't win,i think that a war will be started but people will revolt the hell out and it will be stopped.

So post your selection from the lot as who you want to see as the next US president.

Please mention your pick and why you picked them

I don't really like any of the current candidates. I like Ron Paul the most, but some of his policies are way to isolationist.
Either way your doomsday scenerio is pretty unrealsitic. Euro collapsing soon is possible.

USA money collapsing not possible for at least a decade. The world is currently far too invested in the US dollar to let that happen.

Also Iran "threat" is way overblown. China would not go to war alongside them, the United States and Europe being their biggest trading partner and all and are the only reason China is expanding so rapidly. Russia would not either as currently the only thing it is capable of doing is launching nuclear missles, which obviously isn't practical against other nuclear countries. Iran is currently a bit more powerful then Iraq was when it got invaded.

I hope a war doesn't start, which sadly seems will only happen if Ron Paul is elected president, but a war against Iran would be no different then the ones again Iraq or Afghanistan. Iran's government will be destroyed in a month or two, but then you need to deal with a bunch of pissed off civilians which is impossible.

Obama. Don't try to debate with me and change my mind, I have enough debating in other threads. I will not change my mind unless he drops out or something.

please give a reason

Because "The Bush" destroyed my life (along with many other Americans and others around the world, and now I will only vote Democratic.

This guy did more for America than "The Bush" will ever be able to. I will not come back to this thread. Good luck upcoming Presidents!

You are falling into the trap of the close minded. Just do yourself a favor and read up on Ron Paul, and also read up on the Federal Reserve (a sensitive topic which not even Obama bothers to mention). The media focuses too much on their preferred parties (democrats vs republicans) but rarely ever touch on the independents. Ron Paul has been an independent pres candidate but didn't get the media coverage he deserved so he decided to play their game while pushing the agenda that matters which is taking on the corruption from the top to the bottom and taking away the federal reserve's power. So he is running as a republican while keeping his independent values (something which mayor bloomberg did when he ran for nyc mayor). Republicans and Democrats are the same corrupt pieces of s....t, so the last hope lies in looking at an independent. Check out Aaron Russos' documentary "America: Freedom to Facism" just to start, and you will see why is it that Ron Paul is probably one of the last ones left that can truly fix this country.

Just as an example, Ron Paul touches on the military's true function which is to PROTECT US from invasion as opposed to being the world police. He also is pushing for not bailing out corporations which are outsourcing jobs anyways and even cutting back on some free trade agreements which hurt us more than help us. One of the biggest things he wants to push though is the elimination of the power the Federal Reserve has (controlled by the powerful bankers such as the Rockefeller and Rothlischild families among others), and bring back the ability to print OUR money to OUR government, which otherwise would end up allocating the public's tax dollars into and endless debt to them. There are MANY other issues but i'll just leave you with this debate here and listen to it closely because it's BIG

Furthermore, an isolationist policy for a few years would help the US more than it would hurt it. In case some of you have forgotten, the US military is spread way too thin and we have gained many enemies throughout. Also there are many natural resources and many people willing to work in an industrial industry within the US, as well as on the technological side. All these bailouts on corporations have done little to nothing to create jobs and for every moment a company mentions how they have created all these thousands of jobs, we all know this is a superficial number as the layoffs follow within the year, or the jobs created are temporary (holiday seasons and such). The US is the number 1 single consumer market in the WORLD, so it serves everyone else's best interest to not do anything to push us away because of that (economically speaking). The US can supply its own oil and in the worst of cases can resort to offshore drilling. There are also alternatives to oil but because of the lobbying going on constantly our corrupt government isn't pushing for these alternative forms of energy. There is ALOT wrong that can be fixed if we allow greedy corporations to fall on their asses and allow smaller companies to grow in a TRUE free market as opposed to the oligopoly that has existed for so many years. Anyways, I apologize for being all over the place.

I'm a fan of Ron Paul. Some of his policies are a bit out there, but I think he could do a lot of good for the country. I really don't want to see Obama win again. He's determined to vastly outspend Bush, and worse yet, he's succeeding. Bush was bad enough.

And I would like those of you who say you will never vote outside of a certain party to reconsider. That is a very limiting way to go about politics. You should want the best person for the job, regardless of political party. That may mean that you still vote the same, but don't judge someone based on their party. If I was to vote based on the party I like, I'd never vote Democrat or Republican. I like the founders views that political parties suck. In some ways, I can understand why they exist and it makes sense, but at the same time, they also create problems like... well, like dividing the country along party lines.

EDIT: Like mrstickball, I think Gary Johnson would be an excellent choice, but I simply don't see him coming remotely close to winning. Not that I expect Ron Paul to win.

I would like to see Ron Paul win. I'm torn on some of his ideas, though. I love that he'd love to end the wars, he's pro-life but would leave it up to the states, and pretty much cut spending like none other, but I don't like the idea of legalizing almost every drug and abandoning Israel (I know this is controversial but it just what I believe).

he's said that he would leave the drug's part upto the states also

it is very easy to understand what he is doing:

if people have good life, good economy,a job, then nobody would take drugs in the first place.
