With the second week sales of Skyward Sword in Japan, I'm beginning to wonder how Nintendo will handle Zelda for WiiU?  Will they scrap it completely?  Will they try to make the controls less difficult (with the touchscreen, I'd say it won't be THAT difficult)?  WIll they try to release it at least in the MIDDLE of the cycle for WiiU and NOT the end?  I think the latter choice may have been a bit of a mistake for the game in Japan.

Zelda: The Legend of the Elder Scrolls.

pwin´ every other villain since 1994

We all know that there will be changes.

But first, it's time to Nintendo understands what is the reason of those poor Skyward Sword sales in Japan.

It was the its art style?
It was its history?
It was its controls?
It was its SD resolution?

I don't believe Zelda has ever sold well in Japan.

I wouldn't say the sales are poor altogether, just not as good as it could have been. It still did well in its OP week, better than TP's, although of course its second sales are obviously less than that. Still, when all is said and done, I imagine it'll follow TP's legs and crawl to about 400k by the end of the year, which wouldn't make it that much of a failure.

Zelda is not that big of a series in Japan ... The series typically sells between 750,000 to 1,500,000 and it usually crawls to those sales slowly over many years.

Absolutely true.  Despite the nasty 2nd drop, I'd like to think that Skyward Sword still has a chance for legs in Japan.  Its following there may not be as huge as, say, America, but at least it DOES have an audience.  I doubt SS will die that easily.  I can see it going to 450k by the end of the year.

Anyway, other things that I'd like to see on Zelda WiiU, aside from graphics and music, would probably be another new villain.

Speaking for myself, I will by the WiiU solely for a new Zelda experience. (Obviously, there will be a lot of other great games to play as well)

I think Zelda is not selling mostly due to bad timing, not because the game itself is flawed.

I have the strange fear that Nintendo won't be able to deliver a true HD Zelda in the first 2 years, and IF they don't they might go the OoT route and just do a make over to a Zelda game so they have ANYTHING to release for WiiU, other than re-releases of Wii games which will save their butt until new games appear. We have seen that with The Wii, where the beginning was just ports of multiplatform games and Zelda and Red Steel.
