Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells has commented on the company’s new project, The Last of Us, in a new press release. The title was officially announced during the 2011 Video Game Awards a short while ago.

Wells said that The Last of Us “will take a leap forward in cinematic gaming and storytelling”. He added that fans can expect “an experience unlike anything else in the industry.”

His full statement is as follows:

“We are excited to finally unveil The Last of Us, a project the team has been working hard on for some time. Naughty Dog’s mission is to change the way people experience videogames. We are confident The Last of Us will take a leap forward in cinematic gaming and storytelling, providing gamers with an experience unlike anything else in the industry.”

Along with Wells’ words, some of the title’s staff has also been confirmed. Bruce Stranley is the game director while Neil Druckman will act as the creative director.

Just saw the trailer. It looks amazing, as usual by Naughty Dog.

My favourite games are all cinematic.

looks interesting,but I'll take a wait and see approach on this game.

I am waiting for gameplay footage before I make a real opinion about this game but a zombie apocalypse mutant parasite scenario sounds amazing if done right.

I'm a big fan of Naughty Dog's story telling and ability to find great voice actors.

Definitely looking forward to this game.

Reminds me so much of I Am Alive and Walking Dead (which are actually great)..But looks awesome and interesting.

I knew it instantly from watching the trailer. The ultimate interactive movie.

Those are some big claims they are making, let's hope they will be able to back it up and make a good game again.
