Sony fans have been dissapointing. It's December and we still haven't had a single thread titled "next year will be the best year Eva!".
What's taking you guys so long?

You missed a lot, and I consider PC/360 still a 360 exclusive because a gaming PC cost more then all 3 consoles combined. If it's published by Microsoft, and only available on Microsoft platforms it's exclusive to MS devices. Not going to go too much into MS, but you missed Halo CEA, Dance Central 1 and 2 (which are fun, who cares if it's casual, I see no difference in audience from LBP), Kinect Sports, Crackdown, and about 5 great 360/PC games off the top of my head all I said is "Microsoft is doing only about as well" but people love to make a point. For 2012 there is Halo 4, Ryse, Fable, Dungeon Hero, and Kinect Star Wars.
Anyway, my point was 2012 looks dry on on consoles, PS3 really needed the last of us, and The Last Guardian was delayed twice, once only two months before release, so I have no faith in that game releasing in 2012.
I see much less innovation in software then I did in 2007-2011.

Yes you are right Sony announcing games far too early but that was on PS3 early life and that was long time ago. I suggest you stop living on the past and move forward because honestly I found your very misinformed or rather spreading misinformed info.

No, I didn't so anything to derail the thread. I actually critisized all platforms, but because some fans are sensitive, they choose to argue eith my minor points on 360. I said, and I quote
"Oh I agree Sony has released more for the PS3 then Nintendo has for the Wii, and MS for the 360. Just saying, lots of the upcoming games in the OP are only Projects, might not even be PS3 games, and that just because a studio has a game confirmed, doesn't mean you should expect it soon (as in 2011)."
"4 games isn't that much for a full year, but then again Nintendo is doing no better. (But Nintendo is releasing a new console to be fair), and MS also has a small announced lineup. The gen is ending (hopefully)."
That's it concerning everything off topic.
My main point is Sony often announces game early into the lifecycle, and looking at the OP, we shouldn't expect more then 4 games for 2011, even that is no garentee. Project's don't count, that can release any time, for all we know, these are early PS4 titles which will also get crazy delays.

They've only just announced a brand new game from one of their biggest devs, and Microsoft aren't going to rush them because they still have Halo 4 to release. Sorry, it's going to be a while I think, Autumn 2013 would be my guess. You're going to have to replace it if you want to play Tales of Graces F anyway. |
Yup, I'm thinking Autumn 2013 as well, and I refuse to get first gen so I won't see a PS4 for at least 3 years.
I'll borrow a friends PS3 for Tales of Graces and Xillia, but I like to own games, so I'm looking forward to the PS4.

That looks like the perfect mix of new IPs and AAA existing franchises :)

It's because this year was probably the PS3s best year
It's more impressive when you look at the Vita launch lineup / other games too... that system is hardly suffering.
Glad ND have got a new IP too, really looking forward to playing UC3 but i think it needs a rest after that. 3 for me is that magic number when things risk getting stale, put UC4 out as the PS4's first big xmas game in 2014 plz.

You missed a lot, but different strokes for different folks. MS approach definitely works, maybe even better than Sony as they get all 3rd party games on their system, oftentimes the superior version, and usually have some exclusive DLC to make people more interested in buying that version of the game. People don't understand that having a huge amount of 1st party studios is a huge risk. If the studio does not deliver then you're making money. You have to pay for contractors and employees, life insurance, 401k, employee events, etc etc. You also have to pay for regular business expenses like equipment, building rentals, electricity, cleaning, etc etc. It's a major expense, yes, if MS bought Epic then Gears would be exclusive forever and they wouldn't have to keep paying Epic to keep the franchise exclusive, but how many "Gears" are out there? Fortnite looks like a bomb in the making unless it's an XBLA/PSN/Steam game. Just think of it this way, SP makes one game every 2 years, if they increase their size to 100 employees, they would be unprofitable and cost Sony money. As a matter of fact, that's what happened with Evolution after a couple of Motorstom games bombed. If you remember they had to lay some people off and merge them with London studios. Hopefully this new Motorstorm for PSN is better and sells better.
MS approach is definitely a safer approach than Sony, Sony's approach = high risk, high reward, but they haven't gotten rewarded yet, even with all this talent and 1st party they haven't gotten a game that sells as much as, say, Halo, or even Gears.
