I'm sure the game is good but the hype that surrounds bethseda games is not good enough to have the same problems game after game. You know what they learn from this? Well for one they are trying to fix all problems, I've gotten a ton of updates for the game (even though I haven't encountered any annoying bugs let alone a game breaking one) 

It's not hype that wins them GOTY awards for their games, it's because they create such incredibly addicting, fun games that are far and beyond your average experience. Just ask the average person who's owned and played Skyrim...Most will say it's their GOTY (many even say it's their game of all time)

It does raise an interesting debate: should a product that was clearly released as unfinished have its unfinished status held against it, or should it be purely judged upon the gameplay itself?

Congrats but not well deserved but I've only played the PS3 version my peers say there both the same except the 360 version has less bugs. In my opinion UC3 should have won and Gears of War 3 should have at least been nominated. Anyways I'll try the 360 version tomorrow.

It's not unfinished though (at least for non-PS3 owners) And to answer your question it should be a mixture of both.

Most of the people who are bitching about Skyrim getting GOTY are PS3 owners who don't even own the game, but the fact is Skyrim even with it's occasional bugs (moreso for PS3 owners) is such a good, fun and addicting game that it deserves the GOTY title. Most who have played the game would agree with that.

Guess I need to go buy skyrim on ps3 which could not even allow me to play through it. When it works properly that's when a ps3 owner should buy it. Not make them wait till its fixed. If this was the ONLY Beth. game that had problems it would be easy to overlook but it keeps happening.

So, because it's broken on the PS3 it can't be a masterpiece on the PC or the 360? I'm pretty sure the 360 version had more perfect scores and a higher meta than UC3. By that reasoning UC2 shouldn't have won GOTY because it wasn't on the 360, PC, or Wii.

It can be a masterpiece but I judge things as an overall package, if your going to make it multiplat you put the work into it. UC2 shouldn't have won GOTY because it was a multiplat? That makes no sense.

They lost all credibility when they announced MW3 as best shooter above both BF3 and Gears 3.

Do they judge these on quality or is it just a popularity contest?
