Forums - Gaming Discussion - FFXIII-2 getting negative reactions from people that have played 20-40 hours of the game.

Your post is a clear example of blind hattred toward Final Fantasy. It has become an example of nothing, FF XIII is far from beeing a bad game, its not the best FF in the planet but its not an atrocity, ppl got disapointed because the game wasnt the thing everyone was expecting it to be and that originated an insane wave of blind hattred that made them say things like "At this point the series is beyond salvation".

So if tomorrow Square were to anounce FF XV and it turns out to be better tham FF VI and VII together would you still say this same thing you did here ? Another thing thats interesting about the blind hattred towards the series is how ppl treat FF XI and XIV diferently, XI wich is a very good game is treated as something that is not a part of the FF series because its an online game, while XIV that sucks is considered like its one of the singleplayer numbered FF just because its a terrible game (and XIV realy has no redeeming quality it sucks).

In resume ppl decided FF should be hatted and bam, the hate wave started and will probably never end regardless of the quality of forthcoming games in the series. I wont mind as long as Square keep making good/great FF games and releasing them on the West, even if they have to reduce the production values of the games on the future.

didn't this game get a 40/40?

Even though these impressions are fake don't trust that score at all. FF12 which was in my opinion was awful also got 40/40 from Famitsu many years ago.

Funny, I thought it was one of the top best FF in the whole series and deserves all the universal acclaim it got. Great Story, Fighting system, dialogue and no random encounters. NO RANDOM ENCOUNTERS. Soundtrack was a bit weak but still amazing overall.

I don't understand why people hate this game, as you said this game deserve the universal acclaim it got.

I agree.

What more sad is that Xenoblade Chronicles followed in the footsteps of FFXII and yet look at all the praise it's getting from gamers? Haters don't know what good they got till it's gone and that's what happened with FF12. FF13 then showed how it was basically an interatcive movie in hiding behind the lie of being  numbered FF and nobody liked it. Then when an imitator of FF12 comes through (Xenoblade Chronicles) they start praising the imitator when they were hating the original that started that game design. For shame.

I still think Xenoblade is Final Fantasy XII 1.5 and nothing more. The real evolutution of FF12 will come in the form of the first HD game by Hiroyuki Ito. I just hope he's got a seamless open world in his next game. None of the zone BS that was in FF12, please.

Iuno from what I've played FFXIII, it is a GOOD game.

I bet if the game wasnt named "Final Fantasy", people would praise it, I believe the reason why people hate XIII so much is because its so different from the older installations in the series. Alot of people said negative things about XII, guess what? XIII came out and the amount of people who hate XII lowered.

I wouldnt be surprised if XV comes out and people are gonna praise XIII while hating on XV xD

FFXIII was not a good game. It was an interactive movie.

As long as FFXV is a video game and not a film then people will not like FFXIII more than it.

I just re-checked and the person who made this "fake" 2ch & twitter have negative XIII-2 impressions on gamefaqs is darthdevidem01 and he also made the fake "Famitsu Review is 31/40" thread there too.

I thought he was a big fan of FFXIII? Why is he trying to troll FFXIII-2? I haven't seen him post here for a while either.

The OP is not fake. The topic with FFXIII-2 opinions has been deleted off 2Chan due to spoilers being posted.

Also, the thread about the 31/40 was also not fake. There was a thread about it on 2Chan but the guy was trolling and it wasn't the real score.

lol. Even is the posts on 2chan were real. They wouldn't have any merit regardless. It's like taking posts from 4chan and posting them as valuable feedback. Anyone can say anything.

Lol, who would ever admit 4chan as their source.

Interactive movie? Hardly, sure the game is linear, but not by far a interactive movie. If it was a interactive movie, than the game would of been alot more linear than it already is lol (stat-skill and battle system included).

It's a video game that's a hybrid between a game and a film-like story telling techniques. An interactive movie. The same could be said about MGS4.

Oh no, I'm not saying the game will be good, I'm saying a JP mag gave them a perfect score (or has that been disproved?) either way, the more I'm hear about the game, the less Impressed I am.

No the Famitsu score is real. To be honest their written review for the game sounded impressive but I don't know what to think. So far the only non-famitsu reviews we have are Dengeki who gave it an S, but they are not to be trusted either. Then we have impressions from the editor of Playstation The Official Magazine who said the game improves over XIII in 3 big ways (linearity, more fleshed out characters and a story that makes sense) and in general he was praising the game a lot.

Even if what the PTOM editor is saying is true I will still remain skeptical till I have played the game for myself, I feel the press tends to overrate Final Fantasy because they have a soft spot for it. Or better we should see what Edge thinks, they gave FFXIII a 4 so I can trust them.

I'd say it's best to wait for player reviews of FFXIII-2 rather than professional reviews. There's no corruption with player reviews, IMO. Also, Edge magazine gave the first FFXIII a 5/10. I'm predicting a 7/10 or 8/10 for the sequel.

Eh - I'll wait for a little of both pro. Pro reviews inflate, but player reviews can either inflate and or depriciate based on a persons knee jerk reaction.

So its a personal opinion of one player?

Doubt its gonna affect sales or the scoring from several other groups or people.

Also the whole not getting into houses thing, it isnt new, it first started (from what I can remember) Xenosaga Episode 2.

Surprised he didnt mention anything about healing hp automatically after a battle and lack of MP. I find that to be a complete game changer on XIII compared to the other games in the series. SE is trying to differentiate XIII from the other games and their trying too hard imo.

Fanboy trolling is never going to affect sales.  If the general public cared about what fanboy or the internet gaming community thought, then you would think Modern Warfare 3 wouldn't sell a lot.  Despite pretty much pan-negative internet buzz and trolling, sale of MW3 is unaffected AND despite all the negativity, MW3 is on pace to outsell Black Ops and be the best selling game ever.

Why would the public care about what hardcore gamers feel about Call of Duty?

The game has stunning, realistic graphics and realistic war situations. People need to remember that mainstream gamers are graphics whores rather than love different art styles. Say what you want about Call of Duty, but the game does realistic war gameplay very well. That's how it became popular. The realism in its graphics and war situations and online multiplayer spread via word of mouth amongst the mainstream. The same thing happened with Monster Hunter in Japan.

Regenerating health isn't part of a realistic war situation.

Key word is "situation". We're not talking about how the player is affected by health meters and the controls. We're talking about the situation on the battlefield and how you have to adapt your tactics and use your support members to your benefit. Besides, it's possible to play Call of Duty with one shot deaths.

What happen when you get shot on the battlefield? Do you wait until your health regenerate by hiding behind cover or are taken from the battlefield to recieve treatment for your injure. Call of Duty has the setting for war but it's far from real war situation.
