Forums - General Discussion - Swedish poll on the Presidential Election

Swedens biggest evening paper is having a poll with the question: "Who do you hope for to be the next president of the US" the poll was taken by about 80000 people when I made the screenshot.

I just wanted to share it with you, since we had a little discussion about political alignment in this thread.

Annan = Other

Wow, other countries care about the election? Well, I guess after Bush...

Bush had a huge influence on European countries so yes of course other countries care about the elections in USA.

I would also choose Obama or clinton ^^''.

True, I guess, the second last time pretty few cared about the primary election, but I guess the world looked a little different then. The last election more and more people got interested in it.

If I were an American, I would certainly vote in Ron Paul. I'm a libertarian, and Paul has very interesting ideas about nonintervention, Constitutional rights and cutting taxes.

It sounds good when you say "For the People", but what you really want is... a stronger army than the Knights, and the evil power to control the people.

 The US is a bit of a super power that likes to throw its weight around a bit in foreign territories.  Knowing who has their finger on the button in the White House actually kind of concerns quite a few Billion people around the world.

On the other hand, most view the US Presidency in the same way that many view the Monarchy in England...so maybe it doesn't matter.

Of course people in other countries care about the U.S. government, as their choices effect the entire world.

But I'm sure that poll will change once those Swedes hear about Ron Paul! :)

 It looks like I'd completely failed in my Bush joke. Now to hide in shame.

Most people that I know thinks that Ron Paul is a lunatic :) Swedish people are in general left libertarians, not Ayn Randistic social darwinists :) He has some interesting ideas though.

Wait, or, did you mean that he would get more votes or less nevermind

Scandinavia is the most left-liberal region of the world. Social democratic parties are successful there since the 1930s, if I'm not wrong. They care a lot about social security.
