Miyamoto is finally "retiring"

Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Miyamoto is finally "retiring"

He's retiring from an official capacity.
I highly doubt that he will walk away entirely.
Seriously, would YOU walk away from dreamland?

The real question is if he is doing this voluntary or if he was forced to step down. In which case Nintendo still would like to keep him around, but not with as much power as he currently has, doing it in a manner that makes it look like everything is fine to the public. As far as I know, Miyamoto was heavily involved in the creation of the 3DS (moreso than with any previous system) and it was off to the worst start for a Nintendo handheld ever.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

I'll mess his appearance in E3 :(

That was because of the price and lack of games if it was for the design it wouldn’t have sold more that the original DSs first year in 8 months

Well the 3ds is taking off so there is nothing wrong with the system itself if you are trying to imply the scenario with the virtual boy. So unless he was the one who decided to price at $250 and early launch time with no real games (I don't think he makes pricing or launch dates decisions),  the slow start really has nothing to do with him . Also the first game that's started the take-off of the 3ds was SM3dLand, which he was most heavily involved in. So your scenario will be like punishing him for revitalizing the 3ds.

I love your paranoid ideas, i relly do. I dont think anyone thought of this.

On topic i think its good, he wants to get away from the politics and get to making actual games, nothing wrong with that. Unless what Rol said is true, if then ouch.

The worst thing that can happen to the company is if he left "feet first".  (even though that's how he will really leave)

You can't use the price as an excuse for bad sales only to go on to ignore it when Nintendo subsidizes hardware. Besides, the design of the 3DS is what drove up its production costs and makes Nintendo lose money now.

Also, Miyamoto is responsible for the games Nintendo makes, so he's to blame for that point as well. You know, with great power comes great responsibility.

Satoru Iwata deserves the blame you're dropping on Miyamoto.

You mean he made the decision to cut the price that much? And he decides when games get released as well as decide to give 3rd party developers the opportunity to release games before the big Nintendo games come?

3DS was sold at the price of 250 because of the positive reaction it got from the press. Nintendo even said that themselves. I guess that was Miyamotos decision as well…

I wonder what Iwata does as a president
