Sony’s third home console has managed to keep the competiton at bay so far this year in the world’s fourth largest video game market. According to data released by Le Figaro, the PS3 has sold 530,000 units in France. Nintendo’s Wii follows close behind at 400k and Microsoft’s popular choice for western consumers ranked in third place with 300k untis sold this year.

These numbers of course are a far cry from what we’ve witnessed in other parts of the world. However the French gaming society is an important one as video games have became a popular way of entertainment among Europe’s consumers. Sales are expected to increase over the Holiday period so it will be interesting to see

everything within 80%. Closer considering they only track by the 10ks so the numbers are 400-405, 535-535, 300-305. Considering we don't know what date those numbers are up to tracking is either perfect for hd consoles and slightly undertracked for wii or perfect for wii and slightly overtracked for hd consoles.

Looks like the 360 and PS3 are overtracked whilst the Wii is almost spot on.

Anyways I'm surprised that videogames sell so much in France, I always thought it was less than that.

Where did you find them numbers? I still aint got used to the new Charts...

This is actually good tracking from VGChartz on PS3 and 360, despite the VGC numbers being ~60k higher.

Think about it in the bigger picture. VGChartz looks to be within +/- 10% of the actual numbers. For the PS3, it's only overtracked by around 10k if we take the full +10%. The 360 would only be overtracked by about 35k. That's over the majority of a Year.

The Wii tracking in France has been simply sublime.

That's old VGC... the actual France data don't exists... just the old data until  12th Nov 2011 . 

France numbers are till Octuber so VGZ is spot on.
