Woah, the PS3/Wii/360 are closer than ever. There have been adjustments that increased the numbers of many PS3 games and decreased them for 360 games. They're probably accounting for the Asia/other Europe markets where PS3 mostly dominates software.

I dont think thats the case... the numbers are just wrong at the minute I think.

Yep, they were correct, but then they deliberately broke them... Or, you could just admit that 360 games were overtracked and have been fixed.

Not long till the Wii overtakes the 360 in terms of total million sellers. I'm gonna thread necromancy one of those threads where everyone but me said it will never happen.

OT - You say this is "one more" record that the ps2 will hold onto. What are the other record(s)? It's clearly not anything to do with hardware sales, because Wii now has all the 'fastest launch' type of records and the ds has the total sales record. Did you mean total software sold?

Wow the N64 million sellers are shockingly low. I thought the console was more successful than that.
Its surprising that the PSP only has 50 million-sellers, I mean its about triple the install base!

DS hasn't passed it quite yet.

@ Thismein - it passed it some time ago, check http://www.vgchartz.com/hardware_totals.php

No, the PS2 is greatly undertracked here.  ioi has said as much.  So that article is inaccurate and premature.  The shipment numbers show that the DS still has not passed the PS2, yet.

And yet the shipment numbers imply something that is not true. Sony's definition of shipments (for most of the PS2's generation) included units manufactured but not sold - mostly those given to customers as free replacements under warranty. Whereas all other companies (and since just before the PS3 launch, Sony as well) track shipped units only as those actually sent to stores for sale.

Links, please?  Especially about the warranty part.  I'm pretty sure they used to report those they had shipped to their own warehouses, then right before the PS3 launched, switched to those sold to retail.  Of course, even with that method it doesn't matter because within a year of shifting methods most, if not all, of those PS2s in their warehouses would have already shipped out.  So, I doubt there are any discrepansies in their data.

No, We have way too many Wii million sellers (had 126 when nintendo revealed they had shipped 113) and we didn't adjust for it for some reason. Given X360 gets loads of games per year that pass 1 mill and Wii gets hardly any, it'll never pass X360 in mill sellers.
