Why would you go with the winner of the poll? Why not just wait until they release some games that you like? By that point, the price would have likely dropped also leaving you with the ideal console and more money.

Surely you have a genre preference? Or what are some of your favourite games? We need an idea as to what games you like in general, then people can give a better opinion.
As it stands now i dont see any big reasons to get either over the other besides the type of games coming out and games preference. Yeah PSV is more expensive but its not that much more expensive and the extra costs can be justified imo. Price is really the only differentiator at the moment besides software.
Oh and if you get the 3DS you could literally walk to a shop right now and buy one that could count for something.

Persoanlly I would go with the 3DS. I own a 3DS and go say that so far games like Zelda Ocarina of Time, Mario 3D Land, Resi Mercs and Star Fox 64 are top quality games, and thats not including Mario Kart 7 and Sonic Generations which as exclusive levels for the 3DS. Plus when you factor in some of next years releases like Resi Revelations, Luigi's Mansion 2, Kid Icarus, Paper Mario, Monster Hunter Tri etc you will have plenty to choose from!

Point blank, get a 3DS. There are plenty of great games to get for the system and it is available and many different colors and bundles so you can save $10 on your first game. There's another bundle, though it comes with a pink system, that comes with a game at the same price as buying it just a system. All in all, you should definetly pick one up.
You should beware of the Playstation Vita, there are many hidden costs and the accessories are expensive. Sony is trying to make you pay for nearly every single thing you're going to do on it and if you like old Playstation games or have an old UMD collection, you won't be able to play them on the Vita. Though, you can play PSP games on it, you have to buy the downloadable copy, even if you already own the game on disc. In the end, don't pay a Vita, get a 3DS.
If you still don't know what to do, check out other 3DS games, such as Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Dead or Alive Dimensions, Samurai Warriors Chronicles, Star Fox 64 3D, etc.

My prediction threads:
Wii U will sell under 40m units (made on 14th September 2012)
PS Vita will sell under 20m units (made on 30th September 2012)
Wii U will sell under 7m in 2013 - I was right
Psvita as I think 3DS will be pretty outdated after 1-2years.

You should wait until the Vita is out. Then start looking at the games available for the two platforms, ask around for good games, etc., and compare features. Possibly find a demo station if you can and try them out, and see which one fits your style more.
Getting hands-on time is very important, and once the Vita is out, it will be much easier to get a good comparison on them.
So my advice is: wait until you can try them both.
