I would suggest waiting for hardware revisions of both. Reasoning:

3DS with second analog is inevitable, and while it does finally have a handful of great games, waiting can only give you even more selection and at a lower price.

They will never release a 3DS with second analogue.

I believe you might be right on that.   Even I fell victim to thinking the 3DS revision would have a second analog while the second analog add-on news was getting blown out of proportion.  Check this thread out and the related Monster Hunter TriG videos from Japan.  As you notice none of the videos even show the add-on.  It is obvious that you don't even need the add-on to play the game.  The gaming "media" once again blew shit out of proportion.  Also, I don't even really view dual analog as that important.  I know there are better control options than dual analog available now and in the future.

That's cause the add-on wasn't running in the game at the time of TGS, as they said during the conference. It's not essential, and there's always a chance I'm wrong, but there's going to be a revision either way, whether it has a second analog or not, and it will be a better version of the system. Have you ever seen a Nintendo or Sony handheld without a revision? I haven't.

3DS

Now you have Starfox, Zelda, Mario 3D, Mario Kart

Next year its getting Kid icarus, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Paper Mario

Its much cheaper.

Vita will have launch troubles, think PSP Go.

Don't listen to this post. The Vita's launch will not be as bad as the PSP GO's. I suggest you wait a few years to see which one you prefer. No reason to buy a console early, unless you're positively sure you're going to enjoy it.

If it weren't for the poor, poor memory choices for Vita on top of the already very high price-point, I would say that it's a difficult decision.

As it stands, you can get a 3DS (with an already-included memory card) and three top-quality games for the same price it'll take you to get a Vita and a memory card.

Ok maybe not as bad as PSP GO but the 3DS picking up followed by the Vita memory news is leading to a lot of decreased enthusiasm towards the Vita.........and it won't be out til late February!

Its pure speculation and I am entitled to say speculation.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Wait for the Vita.

And then read reviews about it and play demos so you can decide which you want more. My best advice would be to not listen to any negative remarks about the Vita until it is out. Right now everyone is just stating their predictions or dislike of Nintendo.

The Japanese launch is only a few weeks away so just wait till then to decide.

Neither, save the cash. Handheld gaming kinda sucks IMO. Hasn't been a game that's captured my attention for more than a few hours since Pokemon Red.

Why so defensive? I never denied your right to speculation. I merely informed the OP that your speculation was misleading (which you just admitted, yourself). If you say something wrong, you should expect it to be responded to, or debated. This is, afterall, a forum: a medium for open discussion and voicing of ideas.

The thing is i have never played any nintendo or ps3 exclusives so none of the games really grab me, but i know i want to get one of them and im not sure which games i would prefer. ill go with the winner of the poll lol

If I were you I would wait until either one gets several games that really appeal to you. Possibly by then, you might reap the advantage of price cuts/redesigns as well.

However, I would say that at it's current price one can't really go wrong with the 3DS. It already has a 3D Mario Platformer, a remake of the highest rated game of all time, Tales of the Abyss port, Starfox 64 remake, Pilotwings, Street Fighter, Nintendogs and Cats, Blazblue, etc. In the near future, it's going to get Mario Kart, Monster Hunter 3G (and 4 in a few years), Mario Tennis, Resident Evil: R, Kid Icarus, Bravely Default. And don't even get me started on the epic DS library that can be played via full BC (minus Guitar Hero due the the pheripheral not fitting).
