I would've preferred that they waited and put in single player vs mode.

They didn't even put that????

Okay, that is just plain lazy, and I hope they pay for that.

I take it back, I'm holding you to our bet.

Makes sense to hit the yet unreleased Vita with a one-two punch. Now Nintendo is really trying it seems.......lol poor Vita never stood a chance

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Fine.

However, even you should admit that is clearly a unfinished business.

Handheld Mario Kart suffers from being in a handheld, so Mission Mode and Vs. Mode MUST have been there, and the fact they aren't, plus a meh cast, don't help this game.

Now if they only cared this much about the Wii...

It should have been treated as such even before it got to this point. They should have known from the system's launch that they needed Super Mario 3D Land and MK7 by the first holiday season. Having these two games available will put most doom critics to rest. Forcing them into hibernation only to have them return next spring with their usual spew of misinformation.

By next spring the PS Vita will be available worldwide and struggle, so the only doom the 3DS is going to face in the near future is the one called by the people who want to see dedicated handhelds gone altogether.

It didn't stop Joel from posting that the DS and PSP have lost "market share" to smartphones completely ignoring that both systems are on their way out and first year 3DS sales.  Pretty nice to be able to make your claim when ignoring those two "minor" details.  He did try to semi stick up for Nintendo.

Well, I hope that the final game doesn't feel rushed and half-made.

@salnax

Now that you mentioned it, it makes sense, or perhaps, they know that Mario Kart has a bigger installed fanbase that will subsequently increase the 3DS userbase and subsequently Kid Icarus sales could be higher. I think that for now, they are trying to increase the pool of 3DS users, so later titles can sell well.

Wow why would you start development with only 8 people on a flagship title that you know will be a hit? It should have started with at least 50 people from the start. If it did we'd probably have had the game at launch and Kid Icarus would be the holiday seller.

If Nintendo is stretched so thin that they can't even do a simple kart racing 3ds game where characters artstyle and half the tracks are already designed on their own in an decent amount of time it doesn't bode well for how long we'll have to wait between 1st party WiiU titles.

There has been a certain game that soaked up a lot of Nintendo's resources in the past year. Resource management is one of Nintendo's biggest problems and too much attention goes to prestige games instead of the titles that can grow the userbases of their systems. And since Nintendo isn't in the position where third parties carry their systems, they can't afford to play around too much with prestige games.

Regardless, Mario Kart doesn't even need a 50 men team. 30 should easily be sufficient to deliver a high quality title.

I believe you're refering to the new Zelda and if you look at that game you spent over half the game in the overworld. This shows that there should have been  less time spent making the game since you were always in the same area and thus they weren't creating many resources. The dungeons themselve were pretty small and not much variety from area to area yet it still took them 5 years to make. I bet if the task was given to retro they would have made a better game in 2 years 3 years tops.

Nintendo either needs to hire more people or they need to revamp their teams get rid of these people who aren't working fast enough or something. Keep the good programmers and designers as advisors and hire better people who can take care of the grunt work more efficently because this is gonna be bad when WiiU comes.
