I like an RPG game that has a good story, good voice actors and good dialogue

Will Skyrim make me fall asleep ? Or is it really a fun game?

If you're looking for an RPG that has a good story, but you didn't like Oblivion and Fallout, then I don't think you should be playing RPGs. Besides, if you didn't like Oblivion then you won't like Skyrim.

well I wouldn't go to Skyrim looking for plot or dialogue both aspecs are far better than past Bethesda games. But the focus is still on exploration, freedom and actual role-playing.

The game is really good (coming from someone who thought Oblivion was crap) but will probably put someone of your disposition (gameplay, experience and world building secondary to storytelling and plot in RPGs) it will probably put you to sleep despite it being the best RPG of the year.

I'm like you I didn't like Oblivion at all. I kinda want to try Skyrim, but given most people are syaing it plays more or less like Oblivion (both fans and haters) I don't think I'll be getting it. SOme people say the 3rd person mode is way better than the 3rd person in Oblivion. But I just don't trust it to be so. I really hate the concept and the implementation of first person in fantasy RPG.

Good story RPGs: Dragon Age: Origins, and way better gameplay (IMO) than Oblivion. For 360 console exclusive games I believe the Fable series is worth a look.

I hated Oblivion, liked New Vegas and I really really love Skyrim so much that I'm actually shocked. Get it. It's really really good! =)

I'm in the same boat, all the hype is making me want to get Skyrim.

However I never really liked Oblivion. I never actually played it though, I just watched my friends play it for a while. I wish there was a way to demo a game like this.

If you didn't like Oblivion then no, you probably shouldn't bother.

Its a LOT better than Oblivion (5 years better) but its still the same type of gameplay.

Oblivion is the best game ever created so if you didn't like that one, don't bother with Skyrim.

Seriously, there seems to be many people who hated Oblivion (how on earth can you do that) but absolutely love Skyrim, like the guys in this thread, so clearly it's worthy to give a chance.

The last years we had a lot of sequels released that divided the fans between people who loved the prequel more and the ones who think the sequel is better. Skyrim is one of those rare cases where finding people who prefer Oblivion is going to be hard to find and that is thx to Skyrim improving on so many points including the story but I am not sure if the improved enough for you. I don't really play the Elder Scrolls games for their story, you yourself are the story...

My feelings are quite similar. I didn't like Oblivion at all, but all this Skyrim hype still got me samewhat interested. But I guess I still wouldn't really enjoy it, as real RPGs just don't seem to be my cup of tea.

But I guess sooner or later I will still buy it, because my girlfriend absolutely loves RPGs.
