Nintendo made a subgenre with the kart racer, they still clearly own it but how long does a company have to wait until they're just making a kart racer and it isn't a mario kart clone.

Anyway, MNR sold 870,000 on PS3 and has an offshoot on PSP and a sequel planned for Vita, compared to the 10+million Mario Kart sells it's small, but it's no bomb.    And it certainly isn't a bad game either, atleast according to most people since it has the same meta score as the last Mario Kart.  Loading sucked but other than that it was a fun, well designed game.

I think it's a bomba. Major one at that too. You might not remember how they were hyping it, but the hype was surreal at the time.

LBP 1 is not a bomba, 2 is in bomba territory, MNR is a major bomba, no way to spin it otherwise.

The PS3 version was poor, the loading was horrendous and killed the most important aspect for this type of game, the community. I also think it's funny you mentioned the offshoot psp game but only mentioned the meta score for the PS3 version and Wii Mario Kart. When you consider the PSP version and DS Mario Kart, the quality gap is just as big as the sales gap.

What a load of crap, it's a bomb because you remember it being hyped, never mind the sales or that it's getting a sequel or that it almost definitely made Sony money, still a bomb.  LBP2 can be a bomb if you're comparing it to how the first did, but MNR has no such comparison.  How can a game that made the studio money and got a sequel be considered a bomb?

Why does the metascore for the PSP version matter if you don't care about it for the PS3 version?  I'm perfectly willing to admit that the PSP version wasn't as good, and never said otherwise, I only mentioned it in response to your claim that the PS3 version bombed.  Now are you willing to recognize that MNR was actually a great game and just as good as Mario Kart Wii?

Anyone notice that Sony has taken a lot of ideas from Nintendo in the past few years? They're kind of like an expensive Nintendo-imitation brand.

Read the following post and enlighten yourself on how the videogame market works.

Definitely not. If it was, sales would have followed, which they obviously didn't.

The game bombed and I don't know why that's so hard for you to admit. It's been in the market for almost 2 years and still hasn't sold 1 million copies. That's a bomba if I've ever seen one. Mario Kart does that in half a day! You also keep saying the game make money, I would like to see some evidence to back up your claim.

You brought up the PSP version of the game, so accept the fact that it was mediocre and not even worth mentioning in the same sentence as Mario Kart.

Everything that doesn't sell as well as Mario Kart is not a bomb, that's a ridiculous standard.  A new IP sold 870k and got a sequel, I don't accept it being a bomb because it isn't.

because they're making a sequel, that's the clearest sign that it made money.  Unless you can prove that they'd want to continue the franchise even if it never made them money then that is pretty clear evidence.

Already said it wasn't as good, 7.2 is a good score, and I never played the game so I'd call it good (not mediocre) but no not the same quality as Mario Kart DS.  Can you put your bias aside and say that MKWii and MNR are of similar quality based on the same evidence?

Good to hear, I've always enjoyed smash bros a lot more than button mashers. Hopefully this one ends up a lot of fun.

i've been saying this for quite awhile , its good to know some others know what they are talking about instead of just blindly praising Nintendo for no reason, its the same with Apple, but i'm really tired of saying it over and over, that i don't really bother anymore, people just love to be ignorant and i can never change that.

and to add something relevent to this thread , i say Nintendo isn't really the first to make a "Brawl" fighter , i remember a lot of these games before the original Smash bros came out,  for example, i remember on the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis if you will) , some games that use the 4 player brawl fighting gameplay like the classic (though i'm sure you never played because its japan only) Yu Yu Hakuscho Makyutos-(whatever-i-can't-pronounce-this-long-name)

and another interesting note about the game is that it was one of the first to have a full fledged tournament mode that you can fully watch without participating in and had lots of other game modes , this game was a classic. another game is this one

it had a fully interactive map style , that is actually more interactive than Smash bros games , you can fight in a whole buildings with elevators, stairs or even moving trains , open doors dismantle trains ...ect ect and those two are just two examples, i do remember playing more , but i can't seem to remember right now, its been too long. but i personally feel pissed off whenever someone says Smash bros is sooooooo original! yeah right my ass, you've never touched an arcade machine i say.
