Forums - PC Discussion - What skyrim mods/cheats do you use and why?

Just curious, what skyrom mods or cheats that actually affect gameplay do you use and why?

One of the earlier ones I downloaded was one to get rid of ecumbrance effects and later just enabled the cheat to get rid of encumbrance all together.  It's never fun to deal with inventory management and encumbrance and this game isn't any different.  It's just a downright miserable experience to be in a dungeon and not being able to pick up a gem because it will put you over since you're carring 100 pounds of potions.  Since enabling that cheat I've had a much better time and I don't even pick up everything in sight.  I still pick up the same things I would have otherwise, now I just don't have  to worry about archaic systems to limit my fun.

The other mod I downloaded was one that increased my magicka damage because it just wasn't doing much.  It still isn't actually doing much but at least it's doing something now.

Well I don't have any mods actually....because I have the console version (but I really love it!)

It would be pretty cool if you could get mods for console games but that's unrealistic due to the nature of consoles.

Well there are no mods that change gameplay too much at the moment because the dev kit doesn't come till January. All i have are some graphics mods and patches. I do use the console commands for fetch quests so i can get the item without running around but nothing else because I prefer a natural experience.

I have a few graphics mods, but I don't really notice much difference with them to be honest.

Pretty much the only gameplay mod I have is Lockpick Pro. It shows the lock's sweet spot and the pick health, but I leave the former disabled (it feels like cheating). I am tempted to get rid of that pesky encumbrance, but then I would just horde everything. Regardless, that can be done with the console.

Stuff I'm hoping for when the tools are released:
-Dragon Riding
-Horses that don't suck (and horse combat)
-Inventory overhaul (there's one of these already, but it's rather broken)

I love the game, but mods are always great.

I'm not currently using any mods but once I've beaten the game I'll probably try some.

I'm waiting for a hardcore mod where you have to eat sleap etc. I really loved it in fallout NV

Aaaah was thinking of making a thread like this! i thought they were covering it in the official thread so i didnt bother.

They really do need to overhaul the inventory system. I recently bought a house just to store my things..and even now that i do have a house it doesnt solve the problem of managing my inventory while on a mission. Most of these systems were carried straight over from oblivion sadly, hopefully the next elder scrolls will address the issues.

Like other people here ive only added graphical mods, the one im using is a post process injector mod. Basically it just makes the visuals a lot more sharper, also the colours can be made more vivid and similar to the witcher 2's colour palette. im stil deciding whether or not i should keep playing with it on, sometimes i feel like the developers intend for a very particular look and even the smallest of changes can drastically change the feel of the game.

I think il only mess around with gameplay mods once ive gotten bored of the game, which hasnt happend yet :)

I would enjoy the ability to shout on horses.  The Beutiful skyrim mod and also the realistic embers and water show a huge difference in graphics.

I am already stuggling to carry all my items without a follower. I couldn't take it if arrows had weight.

Then you should go to the Stone of the Steed that should solve your problems.
