Yeah, I played Civilization a lot on PC when it came out and Colonization as well. Never played the second one a lot, didn't have access to a PC at the time. The third one has stolen quite a few hours of my life and the fourth even more so, especially with the Fall From Heaven II mod!

Removing the unit stacking was a good choice but, sadly, there is no relieve function. This gets doubly annoying when you attack cities surrounded by rought terrain, moving two-or three hexes can cost you several turns going around other units and climbing etc. Another addition I like is that the city itself has defensive capability on its own without any units stationed in it. You can bombard enemies with barrages from the city, this is especially useful against barbarians early in the game.

All in all though, the Civ series seems to be taking the same route as all other games this gen; headed for "broader audiences"... It feels overly simple compared to previous ones and just doesn't suck you in like the others (imo).

Yeah, Fall from heaven I have downloaded but haven't played much, if only because of the peculiar way I play civilization lately.

Which is... hotseat mode.

I play all the civilizations in Hotseat mode playing every civilization.

It sounds strange, I know, but hey i'm a guy who used to play chess versus himself... It's fun to try and outthink yourself.

With Fall from Heaven everyones abilities were so different it was hard to cope early on without feeling like i was doing some civs a disservice.

I play hotseat myself sometimes, on higher difficulties it makes for great fun! You need a clever ally (yourself ) to survive against the computer on Deity and computer allies make for fickle companions that often make stupid demands along the way.
I think I've managed to win one game on Deity without hotseat or LAN gaming and it was sheer luck, I was handed a bunch of gold from villages and had a nuts starting position providing massive resources.

I don't find it strange at all to play hotseat with yourself, I used to do it with the Heroes game as well.

I ended up with a few good purchases. Though now I have no time to play anything. Skyrim, Red Orchestra 2, Arkham city and uncharted. Plus for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to start building a new pokemon team as well.

Ask me about being an elitist jerk

Time for hype

I got Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

After I beat Zelda....

I was doing it with the Heroes of Might and Magic games myself (assuming that's what you mean.)

Except oddly i kept losing interest well before it got to time where you fought each other.

Partly i think because i don't know what mid-end game is supposed to look like in that, it FEELS like one loss and your screwed.
