i think the game gets better and better so i don't get what Rol is talking about.

things i find annoying are:

items you find show text that you've already read but once you visit a new area it pops up again. i think this should happen once for every item for the entire game! and please Nintendo lose that song... its so ruins the mood when i'm fighting and that tone comes up all happy and like nothing is happening :P

lots of text...

un-skippable text and i hate that you can't speed it up as well

why can't i swing my sword while running? i could in TP so why not in SS?

I like everything els so far though! oh and the spirit realm makes you stay on your toes which is fun!
Lenayro is one awesome place and i just love how the two in one world works! really innovative!

I'm at the boat now

The jingle + text for items isn't for each area, it's each time you start the game (so if you play for 5 hours straight you can visit everywhere and each item description will come up the first time you get the item, but then if you save and quit, when you come back to the game you have to get the description again)

I kinda like the jingle, but yes... it should be once per play file, not once per play time. I don't understand why Nintendo hasn't got the message yet, maybe not enough people are complaining.

The text can be sped up by holding A, but not by enough (Pressing A should instantly complete the sentence, then press again to skip to the next bit [with a back button in case you skip over a bit])

I actually only noticed that you couldn't run and swing right at the end, seems odd that you can't do it though.

Aha thats how it is lol

Yes the text does speed up but not as fast as I would like it to :P I wish it would make all the text in the bubble appear at the press of the A button. I did not like having to read the text over and over every time I failed at moving the pumpkins :P

Seriously when they test the game don’t they get annoyed by it?

Yeah swinging the sword would have been fun and good if you want to chop up some grass quickly to gather some stuff

Check out my Skyward Sword thread, if you want to know more. But beware of spoilers.

The thing about the reappearing screentexts I actually forgot to mention. This, like the other annoyances that have to do with text, is taken straight out of The Wind Waker which is why Skyward Sword is a step back after Twilight Princess had fixed that nonsense. By the way, the text isn't triggered by new areas, but everytime you load your save file.

Sure it’s a step back in that department but the game-play is a step foreword in my opinion.

Yeah I read the first 15 I think but then I stopped as I do not want to risk reading any spoilers.

Jusy finished my first hour or so of gameplay.  First impressions:

  • the music is simply beautiful.  My God.
  • Graphics: Crap.  I spent quite a while tweaking them and I actually have the game looking pretty sharp.  The Art style is doing the best it can with what it had but I don't know.  I get the feeling that Skyloft would be a stunning place to look at if the Wii had the power to pull off even Kameo level graphics.  I like how many of the characters I've seen don't look like charicatures and have a more realistic anime style to them, though.  I'll get over it but it seems like even Twilight Princess looked better, intially.  I'm not a graphics whore by any means.  As long as the graphics can convey what the dev wants us to see, I'm satisfied.  Doesn't seem like the Wii is giving Nintendo the tools to paint the pic that Nintendo wants us to see this time.
  • Gameplay:  The big selling point and what I was most excited about.  It took way too long for me to get to the part where I actually got to use a sword but it feels great.  Hope it doesn't feel old, though.  Easily the best motion controls I've ever felt.....but just because the motion controls work doesn't mean that they are best.  Sword play is everything I hoped it would be.  Not quite sure if I can get used to the "wiggle the nunchuck while running and pressing "A" to roll" mechanic.  It seems overly complicated for such a simple result.
  • Pacing:  Seems to be a bit slower than Twilight Princess so far.  In the first hour of that game, I was shooting slingshots, calling birds, wrangling goats, etc.  In Skyward Sword, I've just read A LOT of text and learned to use a sword.  That's about it.  I know it will get better but it would have been cool to have something that grabbed me right from the start.  I ALMOST stopped playing this to fire up WWE '12 instead.  I just wasn't sucked in, initially.  Not the feeling I got from my other "big games" that I bought in the last few months.

Of course, this is a Zelda title.  Before the adventure is over, I expect to get that "This is the greatest game I've ever played" feeling at least a few times.  Some minor quibbles that I've had with the series and a slow start isn't going to stop that.  Now, to free my Loftwing......if my GF would leave me alone for five fucking seconds (got so pissed with her constant attempts to distract me that I turned the game off.  Usually, it's cute.  Right now, it's annoying.).

Yeah I found the forward roll hard to do at first as well, kept running up trees or taking out the sword.

Also as I said in the SS reviews thread, i wasn't truly wowed by the game until getting to Lanayru (after the 2nd dungeon) Although the second dungeon boss was neat. (first dungeon boss i found a little frustrating the first time, as I was still getting used to the sword and was barely using my shield)

Just finished the Ancient Cistern. Nice boss.

The 2nd Dungeon was a disappointment
There was barley any fighting and all you did was solve . Also they need to lay off ripping off the Fire Temple's content. The skyview felt new unlike this one doesn't

Though the walk to the dungeon was fun and entertaining though. On my way to the 3rd

Also Roma you make it seem like I'm stopping right before the good part. Any new items by those two dungeons? By new I mean never before was in a Zelda gane?

Wow, I'm the opposite. I like the 2nd dungeon and it felt quite new with the whole rolling on the ball thing. The first one didn't do too much for me.

It's just that I seen so many fire levels it gets cliche :/. Though the boss was alright.  The ball was annoying due to the long stretches you had to go.  This temple is not for me.

Just finished the 3rd dungeon. I was impressed. I liked the content and the combat involved. It was fun but those puzzles! Hate'em
Also the boss of the dungeon was the best one yet. I like the idea of a Advance Ancient Civilization that had better technology then the present has and it was interesting.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

Just got the game 2 nights ago, but I have to wait more than a week, 'cause I'm on vacation and my wii is back home. Can't say I'm not having fun right now, though...

Guys, please spoiler tag dungeon names.  Some people might not have gotten that far.
