2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.


Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

Wow if we weren't informed about the console race and the general state of the industry we would think that Microsoft was actually winning this generation if we believed their press conference :)

Interesting few blurbs from the whole of things:

* Scene It? LCA has already made all of it's revenue for producing the game - in just 2 months.

* Live reached 10 million users - 6 months ahead of schedule.

* Revenue for the X360 was more than either the Wii or PS3 for hardware and software

* Terminator and Rocky are coming to XBL Movies

ya, I was reading engadget's coverage. the 360 did 3.5 billion dollars in business which is more then what the Wii and PS3 combined did. What are the chances of this being BS? 100%? thats what I thought.

funny how they didn't compare Hardware profit rather than the Net

Of course they are only talking about North American Revenue, where they are still winning.

 

Imagine if NIntendo said they outsold MS in non-FPS games 3 to 1. Rediculous straining of facts.  



Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

Actually, 360 did less than the PS3 and Wii combined.  (3.5 - 1) + (3.5 - 2) = $4 billion.  360 has been out for 2 years, has a major cost advantage over the Wii (we are talking revenue here), has live to boost revenue by around 10%, has been out for 2 years so has an install base advantage for software sales, and already MS is under 50% of the only market in which it's doing well.  Of course WW looks far far better for Nintendo and Sony, and we are talking revenue, not profit.  Which is kind of funny, usually business compare profits to determine who is doing better but I suppose MS has to work with whatever narrow largely meaningless figures where they still have a lead (no matter how quickly it's shrinking).
