Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why do you hate the Wii?

I only hated it because it's early success put us in danger of industry changing direction to motion controls and casual showelware as lead products ;)

Well what can I say? They learned from PS and PS2 that were the leading shareware consoles before the Wii ;)

Nintendo was strict on what games were put on their systems before but seeing how PS and PS2 got lots of sales because of all the “casual” games on it they opened up the Wii

Don't hate it just not my type of console.

Graphics is the same as ps2(maybe a litte better?) + their first-party games don't interest me at all :S(Mario,Zelda,Pikmin, metroid etc).

How could anyone NOT hate a console named 'Wii'? I mean seriously? Wii?

Compare that to a cool name X-Box or Playstation, and the Wii is obviously a joke of a console.

I hate it because they keep putting out Mario and Zelda games and I keep buying them. Then my wife keeps asking me when will I ever grow up :)

I can imagine myself at your age :) Hahaha

Reason 1:
I think the main problem is the Motion controls...
It could be WAY BETTER if they used motion+ since beggining. Nintendo was profiting A LOT from Wii, so cost isn't justificable.

I love motion games. But in the Wii, they simply SUCK.

Notice how the best Wii games are not motion focused.

Reason 2:
With Motion controls not being so good, that doesn't means that all games must be bad. There are good games for the wii, but not in the scale of 360/ps3.
Nintendo should made a more powerfull system....

I couldn't care less for graphics....the Wii should be able to play ps3/360 games, even with shitty graphics and in SD.

Actually I have pity for Wii-only gamers. Most of them are egocentrical. They tend to overhype average games.
Like Xenoblade. It's one of the most overhyped games this gen IMO. Even if it was in the PS2, it would be a average game. I can understand now why Nintendo was reluctant for launching in the west.

Wii-only gamers probably are stuck in the time. They are almost blind. They refuse to accept the other system's games.

I have most of those called "gems" and IMO all are average games(maybe with one or two exceptions, like Muramassa and Little King S.).But I think that the bar of third-party wii games are so low, that they can actually receive some merit. When I had only a Wii, I enjoyed them, but I knew that other systems had amazing games.

I don't whink that a more powerfull Wii would increase the price of the system. Actually most of the time, X360 was cheaper than Wii...

Ps.: I don't hate the Wii. But I'm starting to hate Nintendo. I have to wait for Wii U. As every Nintendo gamer, there is still hope left for me. Only Nintendo can save the game industry.

I don't really hate consoles but here are a few reasons why I've yet to purchase a Wii;

1: Price, the console has had few price cuts and offers little value for money, especially peripherals and gear costs way too much and the games almost never get cheap. PS Platinum titles and X-box Greatest Hits are a good way of increasing your game collection without going broke. There is no justification for pricing your games near new, years after release (don't give me the "but Nintendo games are worth it", its stupid, plain and simple). This goes double for titles that sell in the range of 10-20 million. Yes, I know Nintendo, unlike MS and Sony, live solely off of gaming but this is beyond silly to me.

2: Functionality. The Wii simply plays games, which is fine since its a games console. But the other consoles offer so much more, this somewhat ties in with point 1 though.

3: Good games outside of Nintendo titles; there's no getting around this one. Not one person can, hand on heart, claim that the Wii has a stunning library of good titles outside of first party. Are third parties to blame? Well, they made a decision, as did Nintendo, they're both to blame imo. Are there good games besides Ninty titles? Yes. Are there enough of them to warrant a purchase? No, not in my opinion.

4: Tech and weak online. Nintendo chose to forego almost all semblance of online components and horsepower, citing (yes, this is real) "it isn't important yet" (the online bit). Even though I don't play console games online, there's still something to be said for companies refusing to stick with the times. Friend codes are the devil's work.

5: Controls. This is kind of a big one for me. Its no secret that I'm not a fan of motion controls but the real kicker is this; there are almost no Wii games that make use of the Wii-mote properly or intuitively, its just waggle or they play a lot better with a Gamecube controller. Wii Motion Plus is fine but it costs a lot here and its too little too late imo.

6: Consoles as a whole have grown and stale and boring for me. This is why I haven't bought a single console game is nearly a year and probably bought over fifty PC titles in the same timespan. Not a point directly against the Wii ,it goes for all three. I'm hoping next gen will be better but I doubt it.

I love the Wii.

I hate that Nintendo has abandoned it.

I hate Reggie. Does that count?

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

I do not hate the Wii, I do hate, however, how Nintendo got blinded by success and made some terrible decisions that only bounced to fans and themselves.

Cos of the motion controls.
