This forum is very depressing. I'm going to stop reading it now. I can't believe people are okay with sharing why they "hate" the Wii. Why can't their be a "Why do you hate the Xbox 360?" thread? And its not necessarily the thread itself because its not a bad topic, but this thread is an invitation for 360 and PS3 fans and fanboys to come in and bash the Wii and say all it has is rainbows and childs blocks without getting banned. I respect the Wii as a console. It wasn't perfect but I didn't hate it.

This threat was supposed to be partly satirical for this reason - people don't really "hate" on the HD consoles; this seems to be something reserved for the Wii only. It also seems that everyone has something that they dislike about the Wii, and they tend to be more vocal about these points than those against the HD consoles - whether they be Nintendo fans or not.

Tell that to the cyber police :p

Hate is a strong word, but it was the continued arrogance of Nintendo and the fact that they released a new console that was really underpowered and slapped on new type of controller. They could have just released the controllers on the GCN or made a more powerful machine. 360 has shown that you can release a new compelling control device and not have to release a new machine to do it.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Hating Wii would be to hate video games. No true gamer could hate Wii as it is home to Nintendo's first party titles as well as some pretty good third party titles. The software is enough to make the Wii easily the second best console on the market, I think 360 is better simply because of the third party support. But as far as game quality goes Nintendo first party software is still among the best in the world.

In fact I don't think their has been a bad system since Atari's last. I mean Sega, Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft have all released good systems. None really worthy of hate.

See this is why we are like polar opposites for first party and eevrythnig. I wont go into worldview here.

Its because it has awful games. The games that are considered good like Mario galaxy and Donkey Kong and Zelda are childish games.

They're awful because they can be played by a wider audience? That's a bit shallow

I love my Wii.

I hate that 3rd parties chose to ignore it.
I hate that I had to buy a PS3 to play a good selection of games this gen (in combo w/ Wii).
I hate that Nintendo dropped off the radar with no games for so long on their own.
I hate that I have only had about one game a year I actually wanted over the last three years.

Virtual Boy says hey.

So i guess if you dont like the Wii you hate video games?? what an ignorant thing to say, some people might have grown up on PS and could give two craps about Ninty IPs, doesnt make them hate video games. So if you dont care for the Ninty games (there are people out there like that) and the WIi is lacking in good 3rd party content...?  Stop putting Ninty up on a pesdestal, yes they pulled gaming into mainstream, but they are a game company just like Activision, Sony, Capcom you're not obligated to like any of them

More shallow than a kiddie pool, that's for sure. Certainly SMG is an incredible game, the music is of utmost quality, and the graphics are the best I've seen on an SD game. But, you have to see that the themes may be a bit too gagagoogoo for people of a certain age. Compare this to that:

    VS

But you appreciate that SMG is a good game - this user is simply stating that they're "awful" - once you start judging a game simply by how it looks, you've really got to take a look at yourself

I personally do not hate the wii and I have many different reasons for this:
*Since it has less graphical power it forces developers to think in more artistic sences which can make a game look better. Most Xbox 360 games try to use the extra power to create more realistic styles, which to me makes it look bland, plain, and just unappealing.
*Unlike the Xbox most of its good games are not FPS which is a genre I could just never get into.
*It has a lot of Platformers which I like.
*The controler has so many different options, like how I can hold the remote in my left hand and the nunchuck in my right (I'm lefty and this is confortable), Hold it on its side and it is a great controller for 2d games, and the motion control can be very useful if used right (Super Mario Galaxy).
*Even though it is overpriced Virtual console has some of the greatest games I have ever played that Xbox will never have. (I'm 17 so I should hate old games but I don't)
*It doesn't break down as often as my Xbox (Xbox- at leat a dozen, Wii- once).
*It can play at least half of my top 3 favorite games (Super Mario Galaxy 1&2, Ocarina of Time, Chrono Trigger) along with Super Smash Bros. where the xbox can only play 5, 8, and 10 (Rock Band/ Guitar Hero, Rareware Platformers, and Batman Arkham Asylum).
The only thing I can think of that I don't like about it is lack of quality 3rd party support but then again most of the other consols are getting atleast 50% first person shooters from their 3rd parties this generation so I can't really complain. I also feel that I might like the PS3 but I don't have one so I can't judge it.I hope you see my point

WHy do you think that is?? Maybe just maybe the WIi actually has more problems than the others??? Lets look at PS3, it sucked when it came out. 3rd party games ran like crap, the online was meh. too expensive.  Now, the games run just like the their 360 counterparts, the online is much improved. and its not expensive and they actually support their peripherials.  How much Move compatible games released this year? How much Motion+? 2 3? THe wiiware still has a crap selection of games, no demos, no promotional sales. Online still sucks, still has that stupid DL cap. 3rd party games still suck. THe difference is Sony and MS have actually TRIED to get their systems on the up and up. they worked with 3rd parties, they constantly improve on their online and they stay making their own games. Can you really look at Wii and not see the problem

Hahaha, I like the way you say that :)

Then again, you can blame the Wii for being HD, but you can't blame it for not being up and up because most of the up and upin' on the twins was done by 3rd parties, and we know what they did on the Wii. Yessir, they loaded it with shovelware.

I think that Nintendo did a very good job of holding the Wii up with quality titles - shame that 3rd parties eventually used it as an excuse to continue to not make (good) games for the Wii.
