Yeah, I probably stated that to definatively.  I should say I think 360 will outsell PS3 over holidays although I think EMEAA and Japan will keep PS3 close enough that WW will come close to a tie.  I still favour the PS3 to be ahead WW for 2011 but it's going to be close and I can see 360 reaching a draw.

But... all speculation of course as you note and far from a given.

I do wonder how things would be if PS3 had a MW3 bundle in EMEAA.  I'm presuming MS paid to have exclusive WW bundle so it was probably impossible but on these numbers it's likely PS3 would have remained even closer to 360 with such a bundle in EMEAA.

Most likely, it's going to be far from a draw.  I can see the PS3 still leading the 360 at the end of the year by ~800K-1M.  As I point out here, the overall gap may have gone down by ~115K, but last week the 360 needed to outsell the PS3 by 230K (and every week from then on) for there to be a draw.  Since that didn't happen, the 360 now needs to outsell the PS3 by 249K a week for 6 more weeks to tie it.  That MAY happen Black Friday week and a couple weeks in Dec, but definitely not the rest of the year.

Well, truthfully, I didn't know the tidbit about UK sales til after I had posted that.  But, considering I didn't just pull any of that from my ass, my argument was still far from rubbish.  I will admit I was proven wrong, though.

Great PS3 numbers, PS3 will dominate in Japan and EMEA this holiday, there are some great PS3 deals for black friday for US so PS3 should keep close to 360 in US.

Amazing 360 numbers.
GO SKYRIM!

Japan: slow week, 3DS is big, but it drops like everyone else except Wii, that grows a little but it's still a shadow of its past glory. PSP SW grows and it's FIRST!

WW: XB360 just left me speechless. Excellent week for all the others too, except 3DS SW.
Kinect slaughters Balance Board despite still meh everywhere else than in America.

Stwike him, Centuwion. Stwike him vewy wuffly! (Pontius Pilate, "Life of Brian")
A fart without stink is like a sky without stars.
TGS, Third Grade Shooter: brand new genre invented by Kevin Butler exclusively for Natal WiiToo Kinect. PEW! PEW-PEW-PEW!

Said it before and again:

Xbox 360 + No Price Cut + Six Years Old + Half a Million Sales + Before Black Friday = AMAZING!

you know I've never understood this "no price cut" stuff

when the ps3 outsold the 360 being  $100-200 more, that's a impressive sales considering the price difference

but the 360 is currently one of, if not the least expensive console on the market and have been so since 2008, and has been at the mass market price point longer than any console this gen, ps3 JUST went below 300 dollars and it still isn't 199, but the 360 has been there since 08 and that's was *counts on fingers* 3 years ago (when the cheapest ps3 was $400)

The thing is though since the ps3 pricecut, in the only place we get average console price data, from the npd, the 360 is selling at a higher average price then the ps3 despite being a year older and having a console priced at supposed "mass market" price, which as it turns out is selling much worse then the other skus considering Npd revealed the average 360 was selling for around 280$ in America in September. Idk if they revealed the average price in october.

That's in the US. And it was only for the month of the price cut. I believe that month also saw gears of war 3 bundles which were priced at $400.

I cleary said in America and the majority of 360 sales are in America. Goforgold clearly was trying to point out the $200 360 version as proof that 360s are selling for super cheap, when reality is since the ps3 pricecut 360s have been the most expencive console to customers in the only place we can firmly say so, the United States. I don't think we get average console prices for any other regions. The gears of war bundle is indeed a 360 that people were willing to pay $400 for. I don't see what that has to do with anything. Last month and for the rest of the holidays the 360 has three new skus priced at $300 and up that it didn't have in september so that average price is only going to increase other then in black friday when all consoles will have significantly lower average prices.

I didn't say you pulled it out your ass, just that it was rubbish, but you didn't know about the UK % so fair enough.

Once again the gap between 360 and PS3 will rise. 360 and 3DS to explode this holiday season ;) I love these numbers.

This is amazing for Skyrim! The game could leg out to 10 million with digital sales!!

This year, Sony have had a tonne of core exclusives and a price drop without Microsoft really doing anything other then the normal exclusives and they can't beat 360 consistently on a week-to-week basis.

In the core genre's of RPGs and Shooters 360 is dominating. Also on the casual side 360 is doing well. Kinect is still in the top 50 and Lego Harry Potter on 360 outsold even the Wii version.

Sony consistently has to have some concerns. Move is dead. A price drop wasn't enough to hold #1 in sales through the holidays. Also, Uncharted 3 is ok, but it should be exceptional in sales.

Think what you want about Microsoft, but they are outmaneuvering Sony on the marketing front every step of the way this generation.

We know from many charts and figures we get from EMEEA countries that PS3 versions of multiplat sell atleast 75% compared to 360 ones. But here we have MW3 for PS3 1.3m and for 360 1m. So 360 version sold 43.5% in other countries? This is what sales should have been if tracked properly and taking in to account the overall differences in EMEEA. Soon we will start getting figures from other countries starting from next week but i dont think VGZ will change anything by then.

PS3 MW3 2.55m
360 MW3 1.75m

This is taking into account that both versions sold 4.3m in others.

So with this WW sales should be

360 MW3 6.35m
PS3 MW3 5.1m

So around about 44% share for PS3 WW.

And now loot at last year sale of Blops in couple of countries like France and Spain.

France 1st week PS3 share 70% and getting bigger by year end.

390k vs 170k.

Spain 375k sales till the end of 2010 and PS3 share 82% 310k.

These are official figures from Charttrack.

So i just want to know how this time around 360 version got 43% in those countries.
