You really don't get it do you. The 360 has been at $199 for many years now, past what is normally a peak for a console (actually way past it) so for it to be almost flat in its 6th year (3rd year at the same price) and to not have the buzz of Kinect launch, yes, that is amazing. I know exactly what happens to a console when it goes $199. Do you know what normally happens to a console 3 years AFTER it's gone $199? obviously not seen as you're not surprised by its sales.

Yes, the ps3 is selling amazingly well, but I think it's a little more impessive on the 360's part consider the ps3 had an official price cut this year(along with one in 2009), while the 360 hasn't had one in 3 years and it's a 6 year old system.

Why should it? in 2008 (year of last 360 price cut, the 360 shipped just over 10 mill, the following year it shipped just over 10 mill. Then in 2010, 2 years after its price cut, it shipped just over 12 mill, and this year, 3 years since its price cut, it's going to ship over 13 mill.

The PS3 is doing great numbers but if you compare them? The PS3 is up over 2008 but it's had $150 cut off its price since.

and being cheaper than the 360 for a total of 3 months this entire gen, and before that costing $100 more than the cheapest 360 this entire gen excluding 06-07...where it was $200 dollars more

and you and I both know PS3 shipments so I won't bother

hahah Super Mario 3D Land had no effect in America or Europe. Surely now the 3DS is doomed. Japan saw a monstrous push but that's not the case now.

great x-box sales i can only imagine what its sales will be like when NPD starts to reveal walmart sales in there statements and next year when gta5 and halo4 release along side a price cut

Sony consistently has to have some concerns. Move is dead. A price drop wasn't enough to hold #1 in sales through the holidays. Also, Uncharted 3 is ok, but it should be exceptional in sales.

Think what you want about Microsoft, but they are outmaneuvering Sony on the marketing front every step of the way this generation.

The holidays are over?   damn, i must have slept through Christmas already! I could have sworn it was mid Nov with a 1.5 million yearly sales gap between PS3 and 360.

The holidays aren't over, you're right... But, this is where the real console sales are... From this week to the end of the year.  Everything previously was a warm up.

PS3 needs a comeback and they need it now.  Otherwise, the gains they made through the rest of the year will be mostly washed away with the large console sales from now until the end of the year.  It will be interesting to see sales the rest of the way through the year...

Super Mario 3D Land released on 11/13 in NA and 11/18 in EU, these numbers are up to 11/12.
