It seems to me like the KB&M controls on skyrim are absolute shit. Especially when switching between attributes, inventory and so on. Whereas the process of playing seems a lot smoother when I use my xbox controller instead. Where's the beef?

Well, there really can't be any doubt about that. The UI are obviously meant for gamepads and the tech is rather limited because of console hardware limitations.
