Priding themselves on having the opinion supported by the majority for 2 generations, the PS3 overtaking the 360 will validate their core beliefs. On the plus side they won't be so anal about the 360 once their sensitivity dies down :)

Also, the difference is that Sony has a decent presence in NA where as MS doesn't have one in Japan. 

Your point would be correct if PS3 sold as bad in NA as 360 did in Japan.

there are only 2 sides to it, PS3 fanboys and 360 fanboys

and ps3 fanboys are the 1's who act like they "still" do care because it's about to happen

now i was just pointing out that microsoft cares seeing that some people act like "nobody" cares anymore

 

and 360's American sales alone usually sell on par or a bit more than PS3's American AND Japan sales combined so it's not like 360 is at an utter disadvantage because of Japan or anything :)

and it's not like it's PS3's fault that 360 sold bad in Japan

so if anything the only thing "embarrassing" is the fact that 360 couldn't get a good foothold in japan despite launching before ps3 AND having all those JRPG's on it's console but whatever though..

To say that MS doesn't care is revisionism plain and simple. MS has clearly said their main goal is to outsell the PS3 this generation. The very reason they entered the console race was to put Sony out of the race so that they can extend their monopoly from the office to the living room. If you need back up for this claim, read Dean Takahashi's books. I think they expected to be better received outside of the US and UK than they have been.

I know some people say they don't care here, but that probably has to do with the reality that Sony will be passing them up in unit sales. The same people did care much more previously.

yeah they make more money out of software sales than hardware, all the component on PS3 are not in house, but they get their shares from Bluray and mostly from first party games

Exactly Sony could care less if they were in first place or not.I mean look they don't care about sales as much as they used to at this point.They just care about the fans/cosumers if they didn't they would'nt keep pumping out exclusive AAA games like every week.Its amazing how they do it.

Also,it doesnt really matter if the PS3 didnt sell 100mil like its predecessors because in my opinion I claim the PS3 to be the best out of the 3 PS consoles.

Its not embarassing at all when you consider the branding of Xbox that MS established with the origional Xbox. Branding means a hell of a lot more then content could ever do. MS simply gave Japan a bad taste last gen where as Sony is more established. 

If anything, I could say its embarrassing Sony is still last place despite RROD, more exclusives, being 1st place fore 2 gens, having Japan in their pocket, having free online :)



Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

and sadly enough it took Nintendo 2 gens to recapture the crown and still couldn't outsell the second and third place consoles combined like the PS2 did which not only managed to obliterate its comp, but continued to sale after the 6th gen was over and managed out sale the 7th gen consoles for a yr. or 2 after it started.

6th gen continues to shit on 7th gen.

idk because the ps2 had like the worst hardware issues before the 360 came around. That didn't seem to dent Sony as much as you would think but then again it's not like xbox was on ps2's ass like this gen either so i guess you could say that :)

Eh. People rationalizing why their favorite consoles is the winner when the race is practically tied.

Would be nice if some could just enjoy their consoles without having to feel like it's "winning" over the one they don't like.

I have no doubt the PS3 will out sell the 360 hardware wise but probably not software however Sony ultimately lost lots of ground this GEN.
