Forums - Sales Discussion - New Consoles - When do you think they'll arrive?

The Wii U is obviously 'revealed', but since July there have been nearly weekly rumors about X720 / Loop / Xbox Ten and also quite a few rumors regarding PS4. In July and August both were rumored to be at E3 2012, and supposedly there were super-behind closed door talks at Leipzig

I've previously outlined my take on when each platform would arrive based on software sales trends:

Wii U - mid 2012 in Japan, late 2012 in the West

X720 - late 2012 globally

PS4 - late 2012 to late 2013 - depending on how much money Sony has.

I've actually done a fair amount of research on leaks---> launch timing and typically you have an 18 month spread:

GC: E3 1999 to Sept 2001 (27 months from announcement, 15 months from real details in 2000)

PS2: E3 1998 (to combat DC) to March 2000

Xbox: E3 2000 to Nov 2001

Wii: E3 2005 to Nov 2006, although there were hints in late 2004

PS3: E3 2005 to Nov 2006

X360: E3 2004 hints to Nov 2005

3DS: April 2010 to Feb 2011

Wii U - 2012

Next Box - Late 2012, early 2013

PS4 - Late 2013, early 2014

When they arrive.

Seriously though, I've given up trying to predict, 2012 just seems far to early for the PS4 though.

Sony will ride the vita + ps3 connectivity for at least a year and a half before they show ps4.
microsoft very well may have their console here in 2012 holidays.
But nintendo should just wait to release it at the same time with microsoft, just make sure you have a STRONG launch lineup, unlike the 3DS.

Oh for cryin' out loud, not ANOTHER one of these threads!

For the last friggin' time:

Wii U... Holiday 2012 all regions
X720... Holiday 2013 NA and Europe, Japan either end of '13 or early '14
PS4... Holiday 2014 all regions, with an earlier Japanese launch possible.

Couple of things here: There is a REMOTE possibility that Sony could push up the PS4's release schedule to coincide with the X720 in late 2013, but a 2014 launch seems more likely at this point.

There is ZERO possibility of the X720 coming out in 2012. All the big 2012 games like Halo 4 and GTAV have been confirmed for 360 and current gen, not next gen, so M$ would be launching a new console with absolutely nothing to show for it in the software department.

Wii U - Late 2012

Nextbox - Early 2013 (I doubt MS will release their console in the same year they reveal it, thus why i don't think it'll be released in 2012)

PS4 - early 2014

Wii U--Early Q3 in Japan, Early Q4 everywhere else.
Next Box--Either Late 2012 or Q3 2013 (it's really up in the air for that)
PS4--Late 2012 or late 2013

i have followed halo 4's development so closely. Microsoft nor 343 have NEVER ONCE said halo 4 was not coming on the next xbox.  They always say it will be on 360 but they never say it wont be on next xbox.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

Actually, his assessment is half right. It'd be pretty dumb to launch GTAV and the new Halo at launch for X720 given the system would probably sell for at least $200 more than whatever X360 is priced at by that point. So the base would be small, the port would be expensive and at that price not much hardware would be pushed with the games on X360. One of the rumors is that EA & Ubisoft have development kits though for X720 and have for a while which means software (good, exclusive software potentially) could be ready at launch.

They confirmed at E3 that it's coming for the 360 in 2012.  They are not going to do a "Twilight Princess" with this game and launch a slightly-better-graphics version alongside a new console next year like so many people on here are suggesting, and how they came up with that idea I'll never know.

Honestly, what sense would it make?  The only benefit the new system would give the game is prettier graphics... same gameplay, same online capabilites, same everything else.  Halo 4 is going to be the 360's "swan song", and Halo 5 will probably come out in 2014 for the 360's successor.
