I wasn't aware of a queue. You are just nitpicking something I said due to previous disagreements (resentment). So I'll do the same in future - not like I have to wait for anyone.

Dr.Grass said: Since people are saying that looks next gen (what's wrong with you) and graphics war blah blah... The lighting looks terrible in that screenshot. Real light doesn't behave like that except in thick fog/smoke. Clearly there is not any of that around. Those beams of light are just downright stupid. But you can't say anything from ONE screenshot so it should rather be left alone. But seriously, next gen!? U crazy. |
did you ever play alan wake? The light is part of the game, its not supposed to be realistic coming off of his flash light or at the safety points (the street light). You are supposed to be able to see it clearly.

IMO lighting on the first game was even now probably the best this gen. So I know that this games lighting will look phenomenal.
it doesnt look next gen though. However the characters look to have a huge improvement.
Regardless, Alan Wake is my number 1 game this gen. So I just want more.
People should really stop going into threads with the intent to troll rather than actually discuss the matter at hand.
Looking forward to it very much, but he looks like a cowboy builder now, instead of a writer :(
Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Yes. It was a beautiful game and the lighting was exceptionally good. for sure. But going by this one picture and the comments that stem from it my comment is just as much justified as the one's that are going ape-shit over it is it not?
Kind of satirical of me, but I'm trying to make a point.

As usual I disagree with you.
Wait...Didn't you say Forza 4 had the best lighting this gen? I could swear I remember that...

I did say probably. Looking at it objectively Forza 4 is better than AW1 in lighting tech. However cant imagine it not impoving since AW1. Alan Wakes lighting and shadows are just pure win.
Where Alan Wake needed improvement was charcter poly count and animation. The rest is still jaw dropping now. Especially effects, draw distance and ambience. I really hope an official AW2 is announced for E3 next year. Remedy have said i confirmation they could optimize their resources of 360 to giv and extra 30% head room over AW1.
Thing with AW1 was that all the scenery you could see was of a playable stae on not just a skybox like Gears or Uncharted or Rage etc etc. That was down to a late decision changing the game from a andbox title to a linear experience.
I would love to see what Remedy could do with the extra horsepower freeing up the engine from its sandbox environments would do for its visuals. As i said the game already looks amazing on many things even now. IMO there is still no game that does weather effects (fog, smoke, ambience etc as good as Wake.
Anyhow. Who cares. I just want a follow up to my best game this gen. :)
