With each year the PS3 version of Call of Duty has taken up a bigger share of the games HD sales, going by the previous games
Call of Duty 4 sales = 14.46 million sales gap = 2.58 million
PS3 share = 41%
World at War sales = 11.33 million sales gap = 1.87 million
PS3 Share = 42%
Modern Warfare 2 sales = 22.21 million sales gap = 2.93 million
PS3 share = 43.5%
Black Ops sales = 24.20 million sales gap = 2.02 million
PS3 share = 46%
So as you can see there it was Black Ops that gave the PS3 a big boost share wise, mainly thanks to the PS3 comfortably outselling the Xbox version in EMEAA (it was still pretty even with MW2.) Also it was inbetween MW2 and Black Ops where the PS3 finally surpassed Xbox 360 in EMEAA.
When Black Ops was released the sales gap worldwide between PS3 and Xbox was 3.5 million by the time MW3 is out that gap will be around 2.5 million and EMEAA is now soundly ahead of the Xbox.
I dont think Modern Warfare 3 will sell more on PS3 than Xbox, but I do think the gap between the two versions will decrease even more as the gap in EMEAA will continue to grow.
But the year after that when Black Ops 2 is released (not the actual name) PS3 should be ahead of the Xbox worldwide and then it may be possible for a Call of Duty game to sell the most copies on PS3.
Do you think itll ever happen? And if you do then when with MW3? Treyarcs next game? MW4?
