Euphoria14 said: I also remember a time when someone in this thread (We all know who) said that Sim City is a toy and not a game and/or simulator because it's creator called it a toy. You remember this do you not? By that logic than we already had a 4th Super Mario. If the creator called it Super Mario Bros. 4 then guess what, that's right, we already had a 4th game! Total mind blow eh? In all seriousness though, you should stop making threads. Nobody is ever going to agree with you because you make up ridiculous rules and criteria for what constitutes something as a game or what ever else might come to mind. Now M64 isn't a game but rather a gimmick because it is in 3D? Come on now, please spare us this stupidity. Sorry, not meaning to offend, but it really is stupid. The whole concept is built on stupid. |
Was Super Mario World 2 called Super Mario 5 in Japan?

Right. The next real Mario game is on November 13th! I am super excited. It will be good times.
I see your completely retarded logic and raise you this:
By your definitions, SMB3 isn't even a Mario Game. You wanna know why? Because it wasn't a game at all, it was just a play. It didn't happen in the mushroom kingdom nor did it involve the definitions from the true first two Mario games.
So you should be asking when is the third real Mario game is going to be released. Now, let's see you bending your spine to counter this

Super Mario World, unlike the other real Mario games, is set in a different world, not the Mushroom Kingdom. Unless somebody imports the creatures from Dinosaur Land to the Mushroom Kingdom, there is no good reason why they should be there. Yoshis in limited amounts in NSMB Wii actually make sense, because the Mushroom Kingdom wasn't the Yoshis' natural habitat as we know from SMB1 and SMB3. But since Yoshis were of great assistance when rescuing Peach (or Princess Toadstool) from Dinosaur Land, some of them were taken to the Mushroom Kingdom. The Western SMB2 took place in Subcon which was a dream world. |
Actually, SMB3 doesn't take place in the Mushroom kingdom. It takes place on a spin-off called Mushroom World with seven different kingdoms of it's own. Of course, that doesn't matter at all since it's just a play, it's not like you're actually rescuing the princess or the kings or that the action is actually happening, thus rendering the entire of SMB3 much more of a spin-off from the "real" SMB games than the 3D or Handheld versions.

Yoshi was supposed to be in Super Mario Bros. 3, but didn't get implemented for technological reasons. This is how a lot of stuff came to be when it comes to Mario. Even the original design of the character was defined by what was possible with the technology at the time. The blue Yoshi (or any Yoshi putting a blue Koopa shell in his mouth) could only fly for a limited time, because he swallowed Koopa shells after a set amount of time. If he does so while you are in the middle of nowhere, you can only hope to drop down on a platform and not into a bottomless pit. As such, Yoshi works very similar to the leaf/Tanooki Suit of SMB3 with the only differences being that you don't need to gain a certain amount of speed before being able to take off and the ability to fly lasting longer, but the latter is offset by the generally much longer levels that SMW has in comparison to SMB3. Regarding instructions, I think NSMB Wii should count as a real Mario game despite showing you an icon when you are supposed to shake the controller (to pick up stuff). As for gimmicky goalposts you mentioned in another post, where are the flagpoles in SMB3? In your quest to disregard SMW, you are in the process of eliminating SMB3 from the list of real Mario games as well. So the final point is this: The market decides what a real Mario game is. Sales numbers show the truth. SMB, SMB3, SMW and NSMB Wii. These four games were accepted as real Mario games. Super Mario Land, SML2 and NSMB also sold in huge numbers (while SML3: Wario Land did not), but we are already in agreement that the handheld games belong into a seperate category. |
The only reason for dropping SMW, in all seriousness, was because of SMW2.
Why aren't people as willing to defend Mario World's sequel as they are Mario World?
So long as most people accept that non-2d mario games are spinoffs, i'm happy. Unfortunately some like Khuttra insist that Mario Kart 7 is a 'real' Mario game.
