It's definitely one of my all time favs. One could argue that there are better movies out there, but Big Trouble is just pure "fun".
My friends back home and I all love it; we used to quote it all the time, even making an answering machine message with lines from the movie.
I'm really glad that some of my favorites form this thread (Big Trouble, Princess Bride, Poltergeist, Wrath of Khan and Ghostbusters) are all on blu-ray, and I own them all.

It depends on whether or not time was taken with the restoration process. Obviously an older movie won't match the quality of a movie today shot for HD, but if the movie is scanned in at 4K (4000 res) and then painstakingly restored, they can achieve great results.
For example, the very first release of The Fifth Element on blu-ray was supposedly very poor. It had a lot of flaws and visual artifacting. The movie has since been released in much better quality. The Godfather's release on blu-ray is an example in which time was taken cleaning up every frame with the movie scanned at 4K to get the best results.
Here we are! The final battle!
