Forums - Gaming Discussion - Anyone excited about the new Nokia WP7 devices?

The Nokia Lumia 800 and 710 have been revealed and they out in a lot of Europe and some parts of Asia before the end of the year, along with the exclusive Nokia applications they'll be carrying.

The 800 is basically the N9 dressed for WP7, but that sure doesn't make it any less sexy! Damn that phone is hot! And the aesthetics work really well with WP7 as well.

And the 710 doesn't look half bad either, considering its price.

EDIT: And here is a nice video of the 800:

I need a new phone even tho my Nexus One still works perfectly fine. I'm sad to find out Lumia will come out to the US til "early next year" so now Im debating between Lumia or Galaxy Nexus. But my 1st choice is Lumia
Sweet Phone!!!!

You already know I am

A Nokia WP7 handset will be my next phone... in a few years.

I actually had my heart set on the N9 as my next phone. It's a huge shame that Nokia dropped Meego before it ever had a chance to make a splash in the market. It was(/is) a thing of pure beauty.

What made you change your mind then?

And Nokia say they will be able to make much more unique devices when the next big WP7 update comes out in a year or so, so you're probably in for a treat.

I'm fired up over the Lumia 800, though pricing/time to launch may make me go a different device. Despite the lower end hardware, the HTC Radar actually looks nice as well. ^_^

If you can't get a Nokia device in time, Samsung are bringing out new WP7 devices as well, and the Focus S looks pretty sweet.

interesting. i was looking at the other windows phone and an iphone so i'm not sure yet. i'll wait for some reviews.

The 2 Nokia windows phones are pure sex. I don't care for "oh me gee.. no dual core!", this thing is fast!

For now I'll stick to my iPhone but I will surely consider it the app market is big enough, which is happening soon.

Getting a Nokia WP7 for sure next year, but I wanna wait to see what else they plan to offer then...

The big game changer is Nokia pretty much dropping Meego as their platform before they even launched a device with it. As far as anyone outside of Nokia knows, the N9 will be the only device from Nokia to run Meego officially. As a result, Meego won't have much of a chance to garner anything more than a cult following (like my current N900 and Maemo 5). Meego and the N9 could've made a huge splash if Nokia put more faith into it, but when Stephen Elop took the reigns everyone pretty much expected Nokia to go in this direction.

Have you seen the N9 and Meego in action? If not, I'd highly recommend looking it up. The N9 is the most beautiful piece of phone hardware I've ever seen.

True. It's a shame really, Big fan of N9 here.

Yeah, on one hand it's a shame that they're really letting it grow, because it seems like it might potential. But on the other hand, they're leaving it for WP7, and because I'm a huge WP7 fanboy, I'm having a hard time feeling really sad about it.

Whether Stephen Elop made the right decision will be hard to tell though, since we'll never really know what MeeGo could have become. But I think he has a good point in wanting an ecosystem with support from other OEMs and a software giant like Microsoft, Nokia needs to get back on its feet afterall, and establishing a new ecosystem can be tricky to pull off.

Fair enough.

I agree that it's impossible to know whether Elop made the right decision, I just wish he had put more faith into it to not cut it off before it even had a chance to demonstrate itself. And from the looks of it, Meego is a thing of beauty. I mean, even Engadget praised Nokia for what they did with the N9 and Meego. That is saying something given Engadget's track record on Nokia related reporting.

Yeah, it does look slick. I'm not a fan of all its features, but I doubt I would complain if were to use it.

But WP7 in N9 hardware design is like sex for my eyes!
