Amnesia: The Dark Descent is on sale for $4 right now on Steam and it's very scary! So scary, in fact, that I never actually finished it even though it wasn't very long. Frictional's other series, Penumbra, is on sale as well and is supposed to be pretty spooky too.

"But I don't want to go among mad people!" said Alice. "Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat. "We're all mad here."

Why into scary games? I'm not to much of a fan of scary, I mean really they're scary!

They may be a little harder to find, but you could try to get Rule of Rose on Playstation 2(had to order from amazon as I never saw it in the wild ... very creative and unusual game).

Another harder one to track down which is also on Playstation 2, the console with the most horror games as it seems, is Echo Night: Beyond (also from amazon ... a ghost story in space with no weapons and gameplay that requires the player to run and avoid ghosts ... there is fear and tension as well as a sense of loneliness in the game's atmosphere. Instead of a jump out scare gore fest it is a creepy and unsettling affair. In other words, it is survival horror and the opposite of the far inferior Dead Space games that have basically the same setting but are action games with minor horror elements and virtually no scares.

Maybe it's late but I have Siren Blood Curse, i don't played it much but from what I played the games is good. It has a nice atmosphere and a nice feature in which you can look through the eyes of the monsters so you can see what they see. It's nice and gives the creeps sometimes.

Also, another game I strongly recommend it's Amnesia The dark Descent for PC, it's a REALLY scary game, you have no weapons and you have to run from the monsters that lurks the zone. It's an horror gem of this generation.
Also maybe you can try Silent Hill Homecoming, there is a lot of hate for this game but for me it was a nice game with a nice story and creepy atmosphere. However at times it's disappointing.

And last but not least maybe you can try the Wii version of Silent Hill Shattered Memories, personally I HATE this game but it's an interesting game IF you don't know the story of the first Silent Hill and the characters from that game.

So, Siren finally came in the mail today and I played it for about an hour. Some initial thoughts...

1. This game is something else in the "fear" factor. I am actually disturbed by some of the elements in there. The cutscenes especially are getting to me. First time this has happened to me while playing an horror game.

2. This game is dark, and I mean dark. In the first playing sequence, I had to get away from a cop. I could not see a thing. I really don't know how I feel about the graphics. They do make the atmosphere but it's hard to see sometimes.

3. The sounds and music are awesome. Seriously, I have chills running down my spine the whole time I play. And, again, the sounds are disturbing. The whole horror japanese feeling of the game is freaking me out. It's just so...foreign...I feel lost in this game, even if I have the english version.

4. The controls are not the best. Everything is really, really basic. It works, but it's not fun. Not enough to make the game unplayable, but it could have been so much better.

5. The game is divided in episodes, similar to a tv show. You have previews at the beginning of the episode wich is then divided in chapters. I think it is a great design choice.

So far, that's it. I'll post again sometimes when I am farther in the game.

Proud owner and supporter of the YAKUZA games!

Try out Nightmare House 2 for PC (Includes the remake of Nightmare House).

It's a Source mod and because Team Fortress 2 is free, I think everybody should have access to it if they don't own a Source game.
