Damn, there are a lot of titles that have been mentioned that I haven't ever played once or played very little of, which makes me want to start going through them.

I remember the original Shadow Hearts for PS2 being a great title, and it got overlooked because of FFX coming out around the same time. I was in college at the time and there was a local video game shop on campus. I went in there (I went regularly, so the guy knew me) and saw both this title and FFX sitting on the shelf. In the end, I chose Shadow Hearts and was certainly happy with that choice.

Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts Covenant were amongst my favourite RPGs for the PS2. Yuri and Alice's story was pretty touching on Covenant, especially after all the build-up you had on the original for their relationship. The Fusion and Ring systems were pretty cool, especially towards the end of the game were the ring mini-games were considerably tougher with smaller and smaller hit areas.

Plus, the first one had one of the toughest RPG fights I've played, Seraphic Radiance. Seraphic wasn't tough per se, but since you came from fighting Ben Hyuga and didn't have a chance to heal (plus, considering you were fighting with Yuri alone), it was an extremely tough sequence to beat, which relied a lot on your skill with the Judgment ring and not on your levels or equipment.

Covenant had much better characters and character development (Joachim and Anastacia FTW) and Karin was my favourite character from all the Shadow Hearts series.

I shall not refer to the abomination called Shadow Hearts: From A New World....my soul cries a little everytime I remember how much they butchered, murdered and utterly destroyed an amazing plot build up and characters from the first two games and gave us...that...

I own Covenant and FTNW, but I haven't had a chance to play through them yet. I got to the last boss in the original, got paralyzed and got a game over. I don't think I ever went back to that game after that, so whenever I do go through it again, I will remember to do something to protect myself against that last boss.

Meta-God's Verdant Abyss ability right? Try equipping Crucifixes on all your party member, since they rend status abnormalities ineffective. You can get them via one of the lottery members (I think it was either nº 3 or nº 4).

Meta-God was actually a bit on the easier side when compared to some other main game bosses (Messiah and Amon were harder IMO). And if you've got Seraphic Radiance with you, then the fight is a breeze, since you cast For Everyone to boost stats and then continue casting For Tomorrow to deal massive damage and heal your party.

Damn...if I wasn't playing Secret of Mana I would totally go back and replay both Shadow Hearts >___<

I doubt I'm able to remember what move it was, since I haven't played since it came out :P

Haven't played it in 5 years myself, but I still remember a lot of detail from it

I believe that ability didn't only paralyze your characters, but it could also put any kind of status abnormality as well. I remember it well because Meta-God destroyed me in the first try because I didn't had Crucifixes, so Yuri and Margaret got Petrified and Alice got Silenced and Paralyzed by the first Verdant Abyss he casted D:

Final Fantasy IX with Fallout 3 in a close second.

Chrono Trigger is my favorite RPG of all time. I played the game back in SNES days. I enjoy playing Mass Effect 2 at the moment, I consider it more of a TPS game than a RPG.

Fallout 3...the best...
Fallout New Vegas
Oblivion
Skyrim (I am hoping...)

and...The Lord of the rings: War in the North. I know it's more of an action-rpg, but I can't stop playing this game right now.

Proud owner and supporter of the YAKUZA games!

Add a poll!

It's tough between Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy 7, but I give it to FF7.

It's hard to add a poll when there are only 10 slots available and so, so many games to choose from!

Ehh, true.

There are a lot of common answers though, and you could also add the option 'other'.

Doesn't matter though, I always make polls for anything and everything.
