We all remember the wars between SNES and Sega Genesis.  The Ad wars between Sonic and Mario. So if you were a console gamer back then who's team were you for back then? Team Mario? Team Sonic?  I myself was a team Mario guy. I remember a friend of mine who bought the Sega Genesis. He would also say how the SNES "was so lame!" lol. I remember I had huge arguments and fights with him why the SNES was better. I laugh at how heated it got back then between the Nintendo fans and the Sega fans. That was a true console war and the first one that I remember well as a gamer.

It seemed that the Sega Genesis and Sonic were the new "Cool thing" for gamers when it came out. Now days most people only remember Sonic from the console. It's interesting to look back at some of the old ads and the war that was sparked over those two main characters.

The Best Video Game Character Ever - Sonic the Hedgehog!

I used to have arguments with one guy in particular, he was a Sega/Sonic guy.
I told him about how much quality there is in a Mario game compared to Sonic.

I've got Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World and Sonic 1 and 2 on Wii Virtual Console. (Meaning I've played them all again pretty recently)
Sonic 1 and 2 are almost trash.

Mario, I've never actually been a that big a fan of Sonic (even the 2d games). For me at least, the title for flagship title for the SEGA MD/Genesis is between Phantasy Star IV, Shining Force 2, Gunstar Heroes, or if we wish to keep it to platformers, Ristar.
