What could the next generation of consoles do (controllers, visuals, features, performace, bredth of good games, etc.) that would truly make you excited to pony up that wad of cash?

What price would you be willing to spend on the system? On each game?

won't know till the day comes but if the hardwares whts promised the we'll see some games on levels never seen before.

I will wait until 2015 to make a purchase decision on either Next XBox or PS4: two years after they have established themselves on the market and incurred a price cut. I will purchase the other two years later when it reaches the sweet mass market selling price point from its second or third price cut.

can't say that I'm too excited until I can see what the actualy hardware can do.  If next-gen consoles are anything like today's PCs, then I will just keep playing PS3 for a long time.  I don't really need better graphics than Uncharted 3.  PS3 has already had online games with 128 and 256 players so there multiplayer is just fine too.  I wouldn't mind seeing the PC version of BF3 on console, but I don't like BF games anyway.

As of now, I am primarily curious to see how M$ improves on Kinect in the next-gen.  I feel that we are still in the infancy of camera-based gaming.

The Wii U looks like too much of the same to me so far.

Most anticipated games of 2011:

Uncharted 3,Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Rocksmith

Modern Warfare 3, Super Mario 3D

All I want is more stream lined interfacing, and a huge performance boost. If the system has a great OS and online infrastructure built in from day one, and raw power, everything else can be improved and updated along the way.

What I would not be happy to see is cheap $300 - 400 dollar baby steps. If that is what we get, I will hold off, and possibly move to PC. Returning to console in gen 9.

I'm excited for Vita but until I see something on PS4 or 720 I will have to say no as far as home consoles. 3DS and Wii-U aren't really appealing to me all that much. Honestly this gens power has been wasted on pretty graphics and I think it's really just untapped potential as we see so little that is really different from last gen. Why should I expect more from publishers next time?

I'm kind of excited but nothing has really been shown yet, even by Nintendo for the WiiU, Honestly though i'm just super excited to see Zelda and Metroid in those crazy graphics!!!! and I bet Star Fox will look incredible too!

I am Kong.

Strong and passionate, I tend to be misunderstood, sometimes even feared. I don't want to fight, I don't want to cause trouble, all I ask is a little love, and a little peace. If I don't get what I want, I get angry, and throw barrels and flaming oil at whatever's stopping me. What Video Game Character Are You?

I think the nextbox and PS4 will just be much better versions of the consoles we have now, I can't see anything revolutionary happening next gen, and I'm happy about that. I love the way our consoles are now, so giving me bigger, better looking awesome games and perfecting existing services/software while adding new ones is exactly what I want.

It's hard to be excited about something that doesn't yet exist, so I'm excited for the potential of the PS4/720. Not really bothered about the WII U or 3DS. Not too sure about the Vita.
