Overrated = games you don't like, or like as much as a large number of other people.

An irony of an overrated list is that, if you get sufficient numbers to agree with you, then you can't argue that a game is overrated.

i never said it wasnt a good deal. But the game itself must not have been that fun, since the sequel is doing poorly

The sequel doing poorly has more to do with it not being a good deal, rather than people being disappointed with Wii Play. As a standalone game, Wii Play Motion feels redundant, because there have been so many minigame compilations for the Wii already. This one supporting Wii Motion Plus doesn't matter all that much either, because in the Wii's fifth year people are looking for something more fleshed out than minigames. As a package with a Wii Remote Plus, it isn't a good deal either. Why buy a WRP when no WM+ games are in sight?

Wii Play was a good deal, because it was a compilation of nine more or less fun minigames bundled with a controller. A good introduction to the Wii's pointer controls for a console that emphasized local multiplayer. The game had value, the controller had value.

But nowadays people have not only played plenty of minigame compilations, but also own enough controllers already. Wii Play Motion would be appealing, if there was a bunch of great WM+ required multiplayer games ahead of us, but since that isn't the case, what's the point? So Wii Play Motion really only is a good purchase for those who have just bought a Wii recently and considering how poor Wii hardware sales have been this year, it follows that Wii Play Motion does poor as well.

that makes sense, i still think WiiPlay could have been much better, IMHO

You think Ocarina of Time and FF VII are overrated?

I'll give you 15 seconds lead before I'll shoot you,

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

Infamous, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Oblivion, Limbo, Dragon Age: Origins, all Forza games (floaty car physics<<<), etc.

I agree with all of those except Deus Ex: HR and Oblivion. For all its faults, Oblivion was the first and best realized sandbox western RPG this gen. Any game that gives the player as much choice and freedom as Oblivion is worthy of praise since virtually everything is so linear nowadays.

Deus Ex: HR is not overrated by any means. Even if it was, it kind of deserves respect by default considering that it is the only stealth game left since splinter cell/metal gear solid/assassin's creed/and now hitman all have gone the pure action route with stealth elements put in as an afterthought. Deus Ex: HR does not have to be played as stealth, but it rewards the player greatly in accordance to their degree of stealth/exploration skills. It will probably be the only stealth title we will see until Thief 4 comes out.

Oblivion was buggy, uninspired, and had almost zero story. I don't care how big the game was, it didn't deserve all the praise it got. I think the praise was mostly due to it being the first realized sandbox western RPG.

I like Deus Ex: HR for what it is, but it's not a great game. The AI is subpar, the missions are repetitive, the bosses are a non-factor, the graphics are mediocre, the main character has no personality, and the story is mostly told through emails and PDAs. And there are a zillion boxes laying around for no reason. Also, depending on your play style, the amount of stealth is either the same or less than MGS4, the AC 2 and Brotherhood. Hitman: Absolution isn't out yet, so I can't really speak on that.

Oblivion had a fair amount of bugs, but after 3 playthroughs I barely encountered any, and nothing was gamebreaking. I got much more enjoyment out of the side quests than the actual main story which was very dull.

The AI was subpar in Deus Ex??? Did we play the same game? I have not encountered AI as smart and overpowering as was offered in Deus Ex in a long time ... I really can't think of one game this gen off the top of my head with better AI. Maybe it is poor on the lower difficulties, but I am not sure since I played on the "Give Me Deus Ex" setting. I got no arguments on the graphical front as it really did need some work there, but I think if they had just made the pre-rendered cutscenes better than people would have let the rest slide ... kind of funny a Square published game had such low quality pre-rendered when that is about all Square can usually do right with most of its games.

The main character was not exactly the most developed, but there were at least a few side missions that dealt with him not to mention the emails/pda's and the banter he exchanges with his colleagues and enemies. I think the idea is that the game revolves around player choice so, in a way, you develop Adam kind of like how you develop Shepard in Mass Effect. I never noticed a problem with too many boxes ... and the amount of stealth, like I said, is entirely dependent on the player, but the point I made was that the game actively rewards you for stealth unlike Metal Gear (recent ones) and Assassin's Creed series ... even if you get caught in Assassin's Creed you can still just kill every guard in the area since the combat system is broken completely by the all powerful counter attack (RT + X will win you every fight).

L.A. Noire was rather overrated, but it deserves credit for trying something different instead of being just another GTA clone, and I thought the facial capture was excellent.

i dont even read posts in this thread cause when i see the name Metal Gear pop up i would be...
