Forums - Gaming Discussion - Taxes on games in the US

Canada is the same except that taxes are even higher, your better off buying in the US.

In Ontario (across the border from Detroit) there's a 13% tax on everything. So yeah add 13% to the $250 PS3 you want to buy. It'll be $282.

Here in Texas its 6.25%, but local taxing jurisdictions usually bump it up to 8.25%.

games cost $65 new

just a warning, depending from which country you're from and well.. luck.. at the custom control you might have tp pay an import duty...

He's going from Canada to the United States and back again. NAFTA all the way

@ Kasz. Pretty sure Ohio has a sales tax on all food and clothing, just that the overall rate is lower than PA. I know my family in Akron loves to go shopping in Grove City (very close to Ohio border and to where i live) because of the tax-free clothing

Actually I am going from France to US and back again :D.Will I have to pay additional custom taxes?

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

It really bites when you spend buy something expensive. $500 suddenly turns into $565.

It was 15% some years ago.

Consoles have tax too,right?

EVERYTHING does, except for nontaxables like food.  Even then in some places some foods have sales tax.  (Junk food, Soda).

And, yes it's stupid, and no i don't know why it's like that.

It is based on the type of food, not where you are.  Confectionery foods are always taxed.

Sure it is.  Sales taxes are set locally.

Plus I mean, we don't charge a sales tax for any food items and 60% of what we sell is candy.

Yeah it hurts man, so annoying. It's not gonna get any better with the Liberals. Their plan for balancing the budget includes more spending, not spending cuts. They plan to balance it by increasing revenues which means more taxes...ugghhh

Why can't a country just try real capitalism for 4 years and see that it works.
